James has finally officially announced HamsterWheel on the OHRRPGCE site. I'm sure pretty much everyone here knows what HamsterWheel is, so I won't go into detail on that. But like he says, don't stop working on your OHR games!

From http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/wheel.php.

Link is courtesy Rinku's LJ, because I didn't check the OHR site today. Happy

It's still a rumor like James said. And I take it since he finally posted about it that he's considering working on it even more than he was let's say 6 months ago or so. But we all know that if he worked on it, it would rock very much. This is exciting, but like hearing about a great game early or a movie, you have to be patient and wait and sometimes the enthusiasm wears off for a while but it's always there. All the same, this is great news.

Good. When I get back from my mission in two years, he'll probably have it up and "running." Raspberry!

Awsome, though I am a bit sad to see there wont' be upgrades to the OHR. I'd still like to scroll through attacks and monsters without having to go up to the arrows...eh.

Your mission? Mission: Impossible...

I don't know what you think, but the scrolling problem is a bug really, not an upgrade. An upgrade would be like adding summons or something-- something that would change the workings of game.exe, not the editor. Though he never really did say that he wouldn't upgrade.

Am I missing something? All I'm getting is a 404 error...
Nevermind. I see it.

Shadow, when are you going on that mission??
not just before moogle1 comes back, i hope.

Wheel is still a rumour, but it is more than likely now that it will happen sometime in the future. YAY!

Technically, it's not really a rumor, since James has been planning it for a while. A rumor is unverified information. This page serves as verification of its planning. Hamsterwheel just doesn't physically exist.

Yeah, hamsterwheel has been in "development" for years now. Hopefully its out of the closet and actually being worked on somewhat now. Big grin

Flamer - I probably leave sometime Spring 05. Moogle comes back in June or July I believe, so no worries. Raspberry!

Hmm... OHR for Windows? I am not a big fan for DOS-based programs, so this could mean a lot to me. Of course, I'll still use OHRRPGCE, 'cause I am not a traitor. Raspberry!
I guess that supporting James is the main thing we want to do. Even if we make one big plotscript game, supporting James is the ultimate goal. In other words, we should do what he says, and continue to use OHRRPGCE.
Also, even if this doesn't come out for awhile, I would like to ask, do you think that it will have it's own website forums, like Zanetsuken and CP? It would be all like 'Atom Edge' (Goofy Me Raspberry! ). Or will CP support it to, since CP is forever?

He said it was "starting over" again. Like making a really long thing into something longer and better. Like some people have done with their games. Fen with FFR and FFH. And JSH with Query I and the new Query (dunno). Anyways, starting over is always hard but like making a game, once you get rolling it's hard to slow down.

He's not porting the OHRRPGCE to windows.

I did it. It wasn't fun. He's making a new engine.

Excellent news. I suppose this means James has made up his mind and decided to create HamsterWhell afterall.

I don't think its even at the "developement" yet, let alone being worked on.

I have been planning it for a long time, and I may still be planning it for a long time to come.

A couple of weeks back James said on the Helpme board that he was looking at a library to use for it, and was getting the hang of it. That seems to have dropped off the board though.

I'll take caution in my words.

IF Hampsterwheel comes out, I would be quite glad. There would be a possibility of sound effects and more fluid animations as well as (keep in mind I'm saying POSSIBILITY) an implement for status effect scripts.

Ummm... MY HAPPINESS GOES WITHOUT WORDS. Thank you Happy

... I thought the OHRRPGCE now was still incomplete. Will it ever be complete? Quote something I've missed if it's been said. Sad...

Ganbatte James!
