I know this is a stupid question because I've seen it in almost every OHR Game I've played but....How do you make a battle that you can't escape from _________________ ~Patrick

Have an enemy with the bitset 'unescapable' on. _________________ Preserve OHR history! Do it for the children! |

If the enemy with the unescapable bitset is killed, can the heroes run away, or does the "unescapable-ness" persist for the entire battle? |

Exactly. I was just wondering how to make it so that you can't escape bosses. _________________ ~Patrick

No, Setu. He's talking about a multiple group battle. You can always A) make an invisible and untargetable enemy that's unescapable, or B)Make all of the enemies unescapable.
I don't know the answer to your question, though(Mistah B, of course). |

Er, bummer. I guess that means I will have to take the initiative and find out for myself. Woe are I. |

Oh, you can definitely run away after the inescapable enemy is dead. Could have found that out a decade ago if you'd just tested it out by working on your game.
Not that this approach would have helped me back then, since I didn't know how to run except by F4 for my first few years in the OHR engine. _________________ "I didn't start the flame war;

Maybe you couldn't a decade ago.
I mean, the engine has grown quite a bit in the last 10 years. |

I know you could back then because it's the presence of the Unescapeable enemy on the battlefield that presents running, occasional old battles even from way back when sometimes used it as a puzzle element, and because Whatsnew.txt never included a message about changing it in the time I've been using the engine.

I'm fairly sure it's been that way for at least 10 years too.

Blimey. It is quite non-obvious. Funny that you knew the debug key though. Although you can do it manually with attacks, I hope we eventually have a builtin 'Run' command that you can add to the battle menu (the way running works still need a lot of improving). _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
