That's right, I'm hoping to get back into the OHR by taking a whack at heavy plotscripting! Now then, it isn't so much Metal Slug Tactics as Paper Metal Slug, and isn't so much Paper Metal Slug as a turn-based sidescroller. I'm trying for something super-unique here! Ever since I made the sprites (they're in the art forum), I've been swamped with awesome ideas for a Metal Slug OHR game, and the turn-based sidescroller is the coolest one I've came up with yet.

Here's the intended system: The battles take place in sidescrolling tile-map (thus the walkabouts, though the up and down frames are unneccesary). You choose commands with the numpad whenever your turn comes around. First, you choose which way you want to move, be if walking left or right, starting a jump, or crouching. Then, you choose a weapon to attack with. Firing projectiles will cause "bullet NPCs" to appear onscreen. Besides things like damage and bullet speed, guns also have a delay value, which shows how many turns you need to wait to shoot again. Pistols will be 2, while Shotguns will be 5 or 6. I can also implement automatic weapons with a delay of 1, but continually shoots for a few turns. After the enemy phase, then the "bullet phase" will cause all airborne shots to advance the required distance. Besides all of these basics, I'll try to remain true to Metal Slug as much as possible with attempts to animate actions (I can't rip walkabout-sized characters, so I'll need to make some sprites) and I'll try to make an appropriate atmosphere as well. I can even add new stuff if I wanted to! I hope I get plenty of time to work on this game, because the things I imagined are awesome.

Sounds fun... and complicated as hell. You'd better be planning all this before you start because if you don't keep this neat and organized then there will be no chance of this working.

Damn Machu, you sound like you could have something here.

Do you need to call it metalslug? Something simular to metal slug by any other name would be better..

But Cool... let's get to play this soon!?
