Okay, it's May 1st, and as some of you may remember, I said that the Second Annual Epic Marathon would start today. Here's the thing, I'm still trying to get all the details completed in order to make this a smooth experience for everyone. However, I do have enough finished to give those of you who want to join the contest now a reasonable launching point.

Odds are that I won't have all of the information finished for at least a few more days, and I have absolutely no idea when my mapmaker will have all the reference maps finished (partly because I still have one more file to send him). So I'm thinking of resetting the official start date to sometime next week. This doesn't mean that you have to wait until then to start however.

If you want to get your ideas together now, drop me a message at pepsiranger11@yahoo.com and I'll send you what you'll need to get started. Otherwise, if you want to wait one more week, I hope to have a finished HTML version ready by then.

Hopefully this doesn't set anyone back, but I will extend the finishing date a week as well just in case.

So send me a message if you want to start now, or just wait another week or so for the finished information if you'd rather have everything cleaned up and at your disposal in one sitting.

And for those who are hearing about this for the first time, read the thread about the official Epic Marathon contest rules in the General Discussion forum to find out more about it.

Thanks.

That's fine. I have a lot on my plate right now, so it's all good. Next week would be perfect. New computer might get to me then. Thursday. But start Monday, as the earlier the better. We might have some problems in the summer with some people. Not sure who, but we have to prepare. XD

PS: You know I can't pass up on this major contest.

The party already started, Shadow. You didn't ring the doorbell yet.

I'll send the current design documents to anyone who wants to participate. Just send me an email (or a private message) to let me know that you'd like to start. So far only three people have started their games, so it would be nice for others to join in too.

Aethereal will create the contest page once I finish the official documents from beginning to end and send them to him. However, with the contest rules on this site, and the existing map content available by request, there is no reason not to get started if you're interested. I know of one contestant who already has a town finished, so if you want to join...tell me now. All you really have to wait on is the completed story line--which is almost ready.

For those who insist on waiting for the contest page to be posted before making a decision...check the forums for an update soon.

I'm definatly in (email:shadowiii(at)hotmail.com, but I'll pm you just in case), as I've been looking forward to this since the MSM ended last year.

Hmm... with all this delaying of the full documents, how far do you intend on pushing the deadline back? Not that pushing the deadline is a bad thing, or anything Ha ha ha!

I'll probably need a lot more time, heh (..still building first town.. I got too many tiles Oookay... )

It'll be pushed back to the end of July at the latest. There's enough timeline written already for contestants to make a story choice if they're ready. Granted the best parts of the story are still on the way, but you can still create your own foreground story in the meantime (without the need of the timeline). I still have twenty-three more entries to write, so the full document will be posted once that's finished. I don't want to give an estimated time because I'm usually wrong. Once it's finished, you'll know.

By the way, those of you who already started, let me know if you want to start looking at the working timeline for your background story ideas (if you don't have at least one version of it already). I think most or all of you already have one, but let me know if you don't. Keep in mind that the current version finishes up the thirty-seventh month.

To Sephyroth and Ysoft, I'll send you the documents before I sign off tonight. Be sure to read the rules on the OHR Discussion forum before you start.

Oh, and to everyone...

There will be a few design challenges this year. I have a couple in mind, but I won't be revealing them until the contest page is posted. Just keep that in mind.

Hey. Still working on getting my comp. I got the game started on my own file for now,(on comp. with no internet) and it aint no button punching crap. XD

My point is, I will join as soon as I get situated... I can unlump or whatever it's called where you take all of the files out of a game and import them into another. That way when I get the game file you send (when I am situated Oookay... ) and can import them in where necessary. 'Been told that works good and dandy.

PS: Thank you for listening... ?
