Ugh.

School, job, life, RO (Wink)....doesn't add up for good game making, especially when I go solo.

BUT!!!

I have managed to churn out a short demo of Stop, which I'm sure will (hopefully) keep Minnek you guys off my back for a while! Yay!

Stuff to remember:

1. READ THE TEXT BOXES. PLEASE. I spent a lot of time figuring out exactly what to say, making the movies as interesting as possible in an attempt that even the most ADHD player would read them, but...nothing's perfect. Please put the effort into reading them, as Stop is mostly character and story driven.

2. Start from the beginning! Yeah, I know its got that Teaser opening, but I honestly improved it. Really. It isn't such a pain this time.

3. Tips on the battles: They are hard, I know, but they are also very possible. You get lots of XP, so the battles are harder early on but get easier as you go. Remember that if you go deeper the enemies get a LOT harder, so plan ahead and try not to die. Also, save points revive fallen allies...

4. Tips on the boss: Here is a hint: Double Shot. Once Rosemary learns it, this battle is much less difficult. If you get April to know Strength then it's even EASIER. Raspberry!

Other then that, enjoy, and please leave feedback (especially about the movies!) I've tried to add some stuff you probably haven't seen before, so go ahead! Go nuts!

- Too many scenes began with waking up.
- April's hair, in her walkabout, looked quite like a cape.
- Spider-Man had an Aunt May, too.
- The silhouettes are great.
- Check the wallmapping on the trees in town.
- The textbox right after where the trailer stops, on the white background, doesn't display long enough. I only got to read half of it.
- When White was explaining that the Shadow is Pure Essence, the box shows.
- SPELL CHECK. The most common misspell was "sacrafice", which should've been "sacrifice". All of the misspells from the trailer were still there, too, and weren't at the beginning of the line, as you said. Every time I release a game, I read through all of the textboxes (don't say you have too many, 'cos 7th book had about the same amount). Then, if the game isn't too long, I'll play it all the way through and read them again. As a result, I have few spelling/grammar errors in my games.

See? Maybe you should have let me playtest it. XD
It's a good game so far. The story's got me interested. I can hardly wait to see the next version.
My brother, however, thought that it was too textbox-heavy. I can deal with it, but some people may be a little put off.

The battles weren't so hard if you're used to battles like that. That is to say that they weren't mind-boggingly hard, but the difficulty was appreciated. Also, Rob never worked.

Nothing fun and witty on textbox 0... Frown.

Raspberry!

I didn't notice the Aunt May thing until now. That means...APRIL IS SPIDERWOMAN. Wait, no.

Rob should've worked. In fact, you have some insane Rob % (like 60) to get apples from G-Piggers. You must have been really unlucky. What doesn't work is the "Strength Boost" after Lucky, and I have no idea why. I'm looking into it.

I'll spell check it. Really. I know where most of them are, I'm just LAAAZZZYYY. Big grin

As for text box 0...it will come...XD

I can't believe I screwed up the wallmapping after all that. Egads.

As for the text-box heavy, I know, but never fear...they will decrease. Since a majority of what needs to be said has been said already, the upcoming "movies" will definatly be shorter. The reason for so much dialogue was simply because I'm trying to build the characters personallitites into your minds. Because if you don't know them well, you won't grasp what I do with them later on...Big grin

@#$!%#$%. I SAW THIS WHEN I PLAYTESTED IT. I WROTE IT DOWN: "FIX THAT TEXT BOX." AND I DIDNT. ARGH SO FRUSTRATING. Raspberry!

Thanks for your comments. I should've had you playtest XD

The last time I was able to play this game was a few months ago... Maybe longer, but the point is that all of the movies must have had suspend text box advance on. I thought that was a good way to get the people to read all the way through. Wait commands and advance text box...

However I was distracted by Minnek (At his house you see) and I missed one of the text boxes. I must say that this is a game that people can learn something from, but before I play it again, just wanted an update. Do the text boxes allow the player to go at their pace yet? Or they still the same.
I agree that people going through texts fast to get to the game is annoying for anyone that made the game, because they come complaining and what not. That is why you put something that you needed from the texts later in the game... Like a cool puzzle Big grin

So long as that puzzle isn't as simple as 'The password you need later in the game is 3245'

Except for the ones at the VERY beginning. Like, the first five or so.
