|
|
Ok, I know there' probably been some topic that covers this elsewhere, but I didn't see one on the first page so I'm making one now.
My computer doesn't run BAMs, nor do ANY of the computers in my house. I think it has something to do with the fact that they're all running Windows XP or 2K. Anyway, I'm working on remedying that situation.
My question is: Do BAM files allow multiple instrument layers? That is, can you have different instruments playing at the same time in the same file? Or is it just a kind of synthesizer sound that you usually hear from Game Boy or some other primordial game consoles?
I'm a decent composer, but most of my stuff relies heavily on an audible drumbeat to carry it through; thus, I'd really need it to have that feature. _________________ ~Pyro

BAM allows for nine tracks, that is, nine voices at once. If you want percussion . . . you're a bit out of luck. BAM only has a few percussion sounds, a snare and a few tom-tom types. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

OK, thanks. I can comprimise on the drumbeat, but first
I've gotta get BAMs to run on the computer _________________ ~Pyro

Yeah, give VDMS a try. But still, don't get your hopes up. When you write MIDIs and convert them to BAM, there's a 99.999% ratio it'll get butchered to crap. After 3 years of that though, I kinda got used to it. _________________

NOTE: it is not because you're running WinXP or Win2k.
...my older computer that could run WinXP (surprise!) could run BAMs fine, without the use of VDMS _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

I think its your soundcard, not your system.
And yeah, VDMS is good. |
