Is ripping music the taking of music from other games, or any music that isn't yours?

If "ripping music" only applies to other games, then what does that make music that you found on the internet and put it into your game?

If you found music online, it usually came from a game, so it would still be ripping, although you didn't physically take the music file out of the game.

I think its strange to state that most music came out of a game.

On the other hand, ripping of music out of an OHR game, stealing the work of another community member, is a hunderd times worse to me.

There's only two kinds of music in games:

1) Music you wrote yourself
2) Music you didn't write yourself

"2)" is what is referred to when people talk about "ripping".

No, not really. You can't "rip" public domain music. In that sense, there are three types of music:

1. Music you wrote.
2. Music somebody else wrote, but that you are licensed to use.
3. Music you are not licensed to used.

#3 is what most people mean by "ripped."
