I'm curious about what you have to do to start a contest.

Will anyone going to enlighten me?

* Make some rules
* Decide a theme or unique thing all the games must follow, this usually attracts more people to a contest
* Make a post on a OHR board (CP, CPX, but not HelpMe) detailing when you contest will begin, and the above rules
* Hope people participate

It also helps to schedule your contest during a time when there's no other contests going on. Otherwise fewer people will enter in favor of the other contest.

It also helps if you actually have prizes to award the winners, as an incentive to get more people to join, and to encourage your contestants to create better games. Competition is the bedfellow of creativity, as they say.

The current contests usually include the following, and are held pretty much annually:

*48 Hours Contest
*512 Hours Contest
*Human Day Contest (Held by Rinku)
*Halloween Contest
*April Fools Contest
*Terrible Games Contest (Hosted by myself now)

Unless I'm mistaken, there are a few others. I'm not certain who hosts what specifically with the exception of the Human Day, and Terrible Games contests.

What? The April Fools contest is annual now? We've only held one. Personally, I hope we don't have any more.

I've never been drawn to a contest for the prizes.
