if you had to pick your all time 5 greatest ohr games, what would they be?
my picks:
1. arfenhouse 3 - pure brilliance.
2. lolsidothaldremobine - extremely underrated. very clever and fun.
3. ends of the earth two - I heard someone say this hadn't aged well once. I almost puked.
4. wandering hamster - yeah, it really is up there. very balanced and fun.
5. ohr house - not really a game, but one of the best things thats happened to the community for a long time. |

Double posting wasn't the answer, but at least you tried to fix it. Yeah, JSH did the top 30 earlier this last couple of months. This would have been real helpful then. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Um... Lolsid isn't underrated. Newcomers just haven't played it (with exceptions)
Right now I think the best OHR games are:
Walthrus, Lolsid, FUABMX, OHR Date, and I Made Dis.
.. But in any case, you can look at the top 30 for a more broad view at the subject. |

yeah I'll do that.
lolsidothaldremobine may not be underrated, you're right. more like underplayed... too old I guess. |

I LJed this a while back.
I don't think these are "great", but I do think these are "art."
1. Bliss - Quite possibly the most enjoyable OHR game I've played to date. The battles are unique and very un-traditional style. The story is a short story, and is very well executed with twists in just the right spot. The music is all original and very well done (the opening theme is especially perfect). The only downside is that the graphics are poor, and that people probably wont' finish it because, since the battles aren't traditional RPG, they'll probably never finish it (or shrug them off as "unbalanced", like I did at the time of my review). Highly recommended, an excellent OHR game.
2. Purgatory - Another simply amazing game. Many games on this list are up here because they have a story that isn't traditional RPG or OHR (save someone, save someone else, etc.). Purgatory is brilliant. The battles are hard yet enjoyable. The puzzles are quite difficult yet fun until the end. The graphics are beautiful, and the story resolves incredibly. The only downside is that the music uses too much of the "sea-shore" effect. Other then that, amazing.
(City of Dreams MAY go here. I haven't beaten it yet <_< >_>)
3. The Seventh Day or Pitch Black 2 FUBMX - Totaly brilliance. It needs an update however (I may edit this for more later, I'm busy)
4. Walthros - What can I say about this that everyone hasn't said 100 times? Somewhat lousy gameplay, bad graphics...and yet an utterly brilliant story that is totally original. The game is enjoyable to the end, though it has a few slow moments. Overall, PHC's grand masterpiece.
5. Ends of the Earth 2 - My opinion about this game has waned a little, and this is why. First, I discovered (well, I already assumed this, but now I have proof) that said "Kain" didn't REALLY write all the music...he just grabbed it from around the 'net (at first I assumed Kain was Aaron Waltz's internet name, and EOTE2 has lots of Waltz's music). Also, a majority of the maptiles and NPC are somewhat copied/ripped from Final Fantasy 5. However, despite all this, the game works out beautifully, and is one of the few OHR-RPGs I actually enjoyed playing (others include Partisan Legacy and TSSE). Though stuff is stolen, the game blends together perfectly. The songs all match the art and the art style. The art matches the gameplay. The story seems out of place (some of the dialogue is just AWFUL), but still fits decently. The most brilliant thing about this game is the battle balance. It is awsome. It was the first OHR game I ever played where I felt like I was playing Final Fantasy 6 again (well, at least in the battles). A spectacular game.
6. (OH NO IM SUPOSSED TO ONLY GO TO FIVE OH NOES) By the Seventh Book - Let me just say that I wish it were longer. A lot longer. Novel length, even. Though it works out beautifully as a short story, it leaves me wanting SO MUCH MORE of it. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

unmm, sorry, what? Who the hell are you?
The Hellgames forums are gone, but I've always been in the OHR community since I first joined it. Zant --> CP. Yep, short time. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
