Hey I am just wondering what kind of characters do people prefer.
The super deformed kinds with the big heads hands and feet that look cartoony or the more real normal ones that are proportionate? post if ya like. You can help me decide which way i should go. _________________ Its always better to kill two birds with one stone but killing two stones with one bird is always funnier |

some people like one, then some like the other, then some like both. There really isn't a general 'most people like this'. I actually draw both when I draw. _________________ A man once said to the Universe "Sir! I exist!"

It takes a lot more effort and such to make things look realistic, so I tend to admire it much more. Super-deforming is the easy way out (or comic relief). _________________

Try to create your own style. It will make any art you make stand out more. A healthy balence between both styles you mentioned suits me fine though _________________

For a second there, I thought you were talking about character personalities. I suppose I'd have to go with Junahu. Create your own style, and how you do different characters to fill different roles in the story is up to you.
Personally, I like the kind of style that AdrianX uses, but that's just because I love that lighthearted anime style. _________________

i intentionally switch drawing styles (unless a particular piece needs a specific style) every once in a while. i suppose that suggests i have no style (pun). three months ago you would have found me drawing realistic (yeah, right) anthros, currently i'm practicing anime. my fave style is still the one featured in w:p1... 80s american cartoon (i.e. he-man, she-ra, g.i.joe, etc...), escept when i do it, the clothing i draw tends to have more folds and a looser fit than the cartoons do. _________________ LJ.Art

i all kinda depends upon whether you want your game to be a serious game or not. i would go with the more realistic type for a game like this, but, hey, its your game so its your decision _________________

Id prefer to create my own style... which normal sways towards the "cartoony" and out of proportion side of graphics... _________________

style of art, should really complement the mood of the game.
Like, if it was light hearted and just a "play and worry about the story IF you're interested" kind of game, you'd go with anime style.
or, you need to pay serious attention to the game to enjoy it most, you'd go with realistic drawings.
but, the thing is... it's better to go the way you want it, than follow a "genre" so to speak. _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

The OHRRPGCE isn't really set up to do realistic characters. The walkabouts would look really bad if you tried to do realistic proportions.
I prefer the "anime" style. (I put that in "" because it's a very loose term.) I'm talking more the FF6 style. Of course, creating your own style is quite important, but sometimes it seems to work best if you base it off a style. (Believe me, I've made 3 styles before deciding to look at FF4j/2a style with minor changes.)
Of course, I haven't even realeased a game, but I'm talking about a bunch of stuff in theory. _________________ Calehay |

That's really dependent on the skill of those involved, eh? |

Well, a 1/7 or 1/8 head wouldn't leave too much room for development. _________________ Calehay |
