I used to be on a P16 with Win98, and things ran fine, but to answer your question, to get the OHR running faster, you'll need a highter Pentium chip.

The only things that will be faster will be loads. Otherwise, it's the same speed, whether you have a 486 or a 1.4GHz AMD Duron.

..no,i meant the OHRRPGCE games themselves..the heros walk faster, the scrolling is smoother,everything..or maybe it's a bug in WinXP..?

I've never had a problem with the OHR in any of the many operating systems I've used.

But Win98 is largely considered the worst version out there. My condolences.

I'm on a similarly slow machine, except I'm running Windows 95. In fact, its probably not even 166. But I know what you mean, the scrolling is kind of lagging and really big scripts run very slowly on my comp. I want to try it on my girlfriend's laptop because its brand new and see what the actual difference is.

Ooh, sounds pretty romantic to me. "Hey, baby, let's do a little game design... if you know what I mean."

(Suddenly, I can see that line going into at least half of Giz's games.)

WHAT??? Win98 has and always will be the best OS microsoft has ever made! Its soooo consistent and it runs just about everything (bug and crash free!)

I think that its just your pentium speed. It runs fine on my P1 200Mhz PC. It does lag a bit when big scripts and such happen though. On a PC higher than 300Mhz the OHR should run just right. But when applying VDMS, it shall lag a lot. With VDMS I would recommend a P2 800Mhz at least. VDMS runs through windows, not dos, so it uses more memory than the OHR itself.

Acutally Win98 is the most buggy of all the Windows OSes. I personally think 2000 is the most secure.

Not even 98 comes close to XP.

Crash-to-not-crash ratio is like..

I can't tell if Kahn was being sarcastic and I think Fyre mislabeled his graph (hard to tell, since it's pretty cryptic anyway). 98 and Me are the two least stable Windowses out there.

Windows ME makes me sad... When I had 2000 or 98 I didn't need VDMS, but ever since I got ME I required it.
