Hello everyone I'm back but for help again since this forum is the only one that seems to offer it with a friendly attitude so here I go.

I created RPGPlanner.tk and it is going very well but I am going to be opening up a whole new section which is going to be a Fan Game I am making. I would really appreciate what you think and what idea you like and please add what you would like to see in it and any info that could help make the game better.

#Idea 1 - Final Fantasy Battle Game#

The Final Fantasy battle engine is known and loved by all it's fans, so I have been thinking of creating a game dedicated to this engine. This game will be done in Final Fantasy 6 style graphics (2-D) I will create a huge map with little story plots among the way and create a game with lots of spells weapons items and many characters to interact with and little side quests to find hidden objects.

As time goes on obviously I will add more stuff add new battling areas and more plots to keep things interesting.

#Conclusion#
A game dedicated to the Final Fantasy Battle system with lots of spells, weapons , magics etc to create a huge battefield for those who just pretty much wan't to use the battling side of Final Fantasy.

#Idea 2 - A new Pokemon game#
Everyone has played Pokemon Red and Blue and thats what it is going to be like (the map anyway) and you will play as a trainer able to select from a few pokemon and start a fresh pokemon journey meeting new friends great interaction with battles in gyms on the street etc. This game will not contain HUNDREDS of pokemon just a selected few to keep it simple but fun.

#Conclusion#
A new map with pokemon Red style graphics with a few pokemon, leaving home and starting a fresh new pokemon journey meeting new friends and just recreating the essence of pokemon that nearly all of us have been through.

#MORE STUFF#
-Both games will contain a money system where you will need money to purchase new items and obtain other objects.

-Both games will be free mode meaning you can go any where any time with the freedom of exploration.

-Lots more will be done as the game deveolpment continues

PLEASE tell me what idea you like add suggestions and comments, what you would like to see please give me a detailed description if you can because all the feedback I get will help me have just a bit more enthusiasm knowing that people are going to play it.

P.S The game will be created with a RPG Game Engine and both battles will be turn based.

THANKS!

The poke`mon one sounds fun. I enjoyed the original very much. The concept of catching your team and training them is thrilling. Each team can be unique. Of course, Poke'mon made some of the creatures a little too powerful, forcing a trainer to take the best and ditch the rest. It would be cool to have every poke`mon equally as powerful as the others. Then no one knows how the battle will go, really. You could try that. And that is my thought and my advice. Good luck.

PS: You intend on making this with the OHR system, right?

Thanks so much for your reply you gave me some good insight on what you would like to see..

Last night I was sitting in front of my computer playing around with ohrrpgce engine which I am obviously going to be creating the game with and thought of the pokemon show how friendships are formed how nights are spent in pokemon centers walking in the rain etc.

I wan't to be able to put that adventurous but yet calming essence into the game instead of just fighting I would like to create a special bond between the characters and the player to give it more then just a stroy but a feeling.

I am a very creative writier and very passionate about the things I do so hopefully I will be able to do this.

######
The graphics will nearly all be own i'm quite sure (obviously not the best but I will try) I am not sure if the game is going to be called Pokemon just something very similar to it's style just with my own ideas creatures etc, probably be called (creaturemon) haha nah not really.
######

Please keep submitting your ideas and what you think it is GREATLY appreciated.

Question:
If people download a game and play it then I update the versiopn by adding say a house and some creatures and stuff can they keep there old chaacters by simply loading there game into the new file (but it hasnt been renamed offcourse)

SquareEnix (not so much Enix, but since they merged) is taking the name "Final Fantasy" for granted... the ATB battle system isn't all the great, and the range of possibilities can sometimes be very limiting and repetitive.
Story-wise, I'd pick FinalFantasy, since the characters show their colours, so to speak.

Pokemon has a great variety, but one thing that bothers me is how they require you to buy all these blooming different version just to get a few monsters you want. the game play get repetitive as well, but can be changed more easily and can show a larger limitation.
Story-wise, very weak and incredibly predictable. they don't put much (if any) effort into story planning. I mean, sure it was good back then, but they've been using the same thing in every game following, which gets stale.

I'd go Pokemon, because you can have little rivalries with other people.
Final Fantasy is like a "by-yourself" or "I can show off" kind of game.

I probably should close this as you're not really discussing the design of your game, but I'm intrigued by the idea of a *good* original clone of Pokemon. Let's hear more about the actual design aspects of the gameplay.

I think I take back the last thing I said about making them all evenly matched statistically for more interesting fights and better party variety.
Although that certainly is a goal for me, it sort of would defeat the purpose of evolution. What should be done is a way to make even sappy looking monsters into 'real killers' by doing something that Poke'Mon really only started to do, and that is equipping them. This is a standard thing in the OHRRPGCE, so its cake.

Ex: Weedle vs Gryados. No contest in the original Poke'Mon. But what if the Gyrados was naked, and the Weedle had all sorts of powerful energies equipped? Then the weedle would have a chance.
Of course some monsters are harder to catch, raise, or control. In this case, you make a sacrifice for the power they have.
Summary~You sacrifice power for money to buy powerful equips for weaker monsters to make them more of a match. Or vice versa...

Ja, sugi: Shin juji san. Okittekudasai.
I remember when I went through a Poke'Mon phase back at the hight of it's popularity and I created almost 150 of my own poke'mon that everyone (who has seen them) says are WAY better than the new ones that the real series made. This still makes me laugh... A lot. I should PM some to you, if you want. You can have them. I got other fish to fry.
That is all.

I hard on the game and creating maps which are from fire red graphics (rips) I know alot of you dissaprove of rips but I would like to create a pokemon game with proper pokemon houses scenery etc.

One thing I am trying to do is give the story a real indepth feeling instead of just focusing on the pokemon catching part. The story will be nothin like all the others get gym badges and that since just beating the elite four does not seem like a real ending theres not going to be heaps of pokemon in this but there will be offcourse pokemon but how many I am unsure.

Please any more suggestions are greatly appreciated what you think I should add to the game to make it that much better.

(Off topic? Kinda?) I always thought it was dumb that the first gym leader can be beaten by someone who has had Pokemon for an hour. It would be much more realistic for all the gym leaders to be at about Lv50, then the Elite Four around Lv70, then any super-secret post-game bosses around Lv90 (e.g. Blue's appearance in GSC).

I'm going to say this again: Discuss your *game* design, not your *story* design. Look back at the name of the forum: "Game Design". Not "Story Design". It's cool that you have the story planned out and everything, but this isn't the place to share it. I like this idea and I don't want to shut this thread down, but if you don't get on topic, I will.

sorry about that I'll get on topic.

I have been looking for a little while now and found some great images of houses inside markets and some other rips from Pokemon Fire Red.

I managed to find aswell from much searching the proper walkabout sprite from poke gold I am going to be release a demo somtime.

anything at all that you wan't to see or wanted change in this game please tell me I record everything on a text file to make it better but so far I have been playing around with the map tiles and it's looking very nice.

Are you gonna start some sort of topic for this in story?

I'd appreciate an altogether darker game, although that might go against the Pokemon theme. Where is it on your website? This, I mean.

Heh, I did this too.

What always bothered me about the pokemon games and all the whatevermon games and shows is that the trainer never does anything. They can talk about how they form a bond with their monsters or whatever, but the only thing they are there for is so that there are some human characters to identify with.

Some ways I've thought of to deal with this is to have lots of different items that only the trainer can use, have the stats/personality of the trainer effect the pets, or (my favourite) have the pets be incredibly weak on their own, but have the ability to merge with their trainer to become one powerful creature (parasitic pokemon).

Anyway, the pokemon battle system would certainly be more original than the Final Fantasy one. Not that there is anything really wrong with the ATB system is used correctly, but it's nice to have a change every once and awhile.

This may be a good time to present my idea.

if you can't decide between Poke'mon and Final Fantasy why no do what i'm attempting and merge the two?

the result, i hope, will have the story stucture and character interaction of FF, while allowing the player to raise their own creatures and get them to evolve. This means there are less monsters. I'll have about 8, but they can evolve as may times as you like (in this case, 5). As for the trainer interaction, the trainer will be on the feild, vulnerable to attack and able to retaliate only by using items (in the begining...). I think this is an original idea but giving the rate i work on games mine will not be released untill well into next year. Why not try something similar?

I was about to make a Pokemon-like game, I was really hooked onto it once, but then I scrapped the idea. Although, there was this idea I came up with that I really liked, not sure what you'll think of it: you can get people who play the game to send their Pokemon team in to you. Than in the Pokemon Center, on the top floor where the linking area is, you can fight computer versions of those players' teams! Just a thought, though.
