When you say "see you in 3 weeks" it's assumed that you're leaving now and will be back in 3 weeks.

Not always Squall. For example, sometimes, when my dad goes somewhere, he'll say something like, "See you next Tuesday," and he's only going to the store. The whole point is that he'll see you then, especially if he doesn't leave.
