I just had to do this....I hate you Harry Potter...we share last names, and that has lead to extensive teasings.
WHY HARRY POTTER IS SO GREAT
1.There aren't many good Fantasy books nowadays
2.its very well written
3.The people are realistic
4.It's a mix of old myths and new realities
5.It covers many topics....
6.....Damnit, I wish I hadn't lost that list

I don't know if Harry Potter is one of the best fantasy books now-a-days, JJ. More like one of the more popular ones. There are even better written books in this genre. I like the style of RA Salvator myself.
PS: Reading your post, I can't really tell if you love or hate Harry Potter. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Sephy, you never fail to amuse me by posting EXACTLY what I'm thinking right before I get a chance.
While Harry Potter might be fairly well done, fairly original, and the movies somewhat worth watching, I still wouldn't go the distance to say that it's really great. _________________

I like Harry Potter so much, I wrote a book just like it!
Parry Hotter and the Hideously Cliched Artifact of Doom
One summer day Parry woke up to find himself chained to his bed so he couldn't go too school. Then a magical bird came and took him too school anyway. Everyone at the scool suddenly everyone suddenly fell unconsious whenever Parry looked at them. So Parry got together with Germione and Won and tried to prove Snape was guilty. Then they met the new defence against the dark arts teacher, who turns out to be evil. Then Parry gets a magic rock for Christmas. Then Oldemort-Vay comes too kill Parry, but parry throws the rock at him and he dies. Then everyone is happy.
Real dull if you ask me.
I fell asleep reading the last Harry Potter book I read, which is no small feat if you consider my insomnia. Also, Harry Potter takes the good name of sorcery and throws it in a bucket of vomit, watching it slowly dissolve in a depressing, horrible death. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

Not one of mine either. And strangly I'm fricking FIFTEEN AND THEY STILL PICK ON ME! "HEY! YOUR COUSINS IN THE MOVIES, POTTER!" Well godammit, he's my great-uncle.
Found the list, the last one was that all ages can enjoy it. Harry Potter's reign will come to an end soon...I got over my writer block..my fantasy book wil KILL HARRY POTTER! :flamedevil: MWAAHAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously. The books are okay. Getting kinda wierd, but long series tend to do that. Expect a crappy ending.
And I'm too bored to write out resonings behind my generalizations. If you really care, PM me and I'll give you a leghthy explaination. _________________ A man once said to the Universe "Sir! I exist!"

HARRY POTTER WORSHIPS THE FLAMEDEVIL!!!
I've never read the books, but I thought the movies were fun. They were nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed watching them (still haven't seen the third one though).
What mainly impresses me is that these books are hundreds of pages long and little kids still read them without getting distracted. That's pretty amazing to me. _________________ Locked

I should watch the third; it's the best in the series by quite a large margin. _________________ "I do believe your Squid exists. I really do, you know?" |

Yeah, the third was definitly the best, and the shortest. Only an hour and a half long! What where the other two? Near three hours?
Movies are so-so. I usually resent movies based on books (come up with something new for a change!) but these were fair remakes of the series. _________________ A man once said to the Universe "Sir! I exist!"
