My advice is to use clean grammar. Capitalize "I"'s and, if you want to, use "," in their appropriate places. It makes your posts easier to read and saves all of our eyes from bleeding. T_T Ouch. im sure capitalizing I's and using the correct usage for ","s isn't really going to help her make an RPG.
if you've downloaded custom from hamsterrepublic.com there should be a "How to" file inside of it to help you learn the basics. there's also a plotscripting tutorial in there as well.
we're just here in case you come into any problems when making a game, or if you want to see if your ideas are any good.
and definately DON'T be a newb about anything; if your gonna do something here try and atleast be serious about it. _________________

Oh. You need advice in the OHR? I thought you wanted advice on how to get along on this forum.

/me cuts out the joking
Indirectly, it just may. Dialog in a game is very important... I learned that the hard way... It's ok, Jack.
Sicayanami: Perhaps I may have misunderstood the context of your question. If you do need advice on how to use the OHR, where shall we start? What area do you have the most difficulty in? I am sure someone will give you a serious answer if you were a bit more direct. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Actually, a lot of people don't use capitalization. Rinku comes to mind. Grammar's always a plus, though, and good spelling doesn't hurt.
You're probably looking for design advice, though, in which case I suggest you play highly-rated games of the type you're looking to make (both OHR and commercial). Figure out what makes them good and what you can adapt to make a good game of your own. _________________

If you want learn the engine: Yes, the best thing you should do is to work through the howto. Note that it's a little outdated though, so some of the menu names and instructions may be wrong.
Next, ask any questions that you might have on the Helpme board
If you want to learn to make game: Yes, listen to the advice above: play other games, analyze them, read reviews to see where other games went wrong, plan and design your games before starting, release a couple serious ones, and then try and get them reviewed and take the review into consideration. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Well, one thing I'd recommend is playing Wandering Hamster, as that game is for the purpose of showing what OHR can do.
Now that I've said that, I oughtta hit myself, because I never learned a darn thing from WH. XP
All I can say is, Start Small. Everyone, myself included, when we started out with OHR at first, wanted to start big, and found out that you have to start from the bottom to climb up top. _________________
