It's called Virgin. Sparrowhawk agreed to help me with it, if I redo her graphics for A Wizard's life. Here is a quick summary:
Virgil was just a normal kid, he liked to play games with his friends and catch bugs. But his life changes when the FBI needs a new guinea pig.
(Blech. I suck at summaries ) I'm hoping to add a custom battle system, and impliment a item-trade off type thing (Kinda like the one in the Zelda series) Expect a demo soon. _________________ Yo. |

Is that a typo or is the name Virgin and the hero's name Virgil?
And, yes, your summary sucks. I have to wonder what you mean when you say that the FBI needs a "new" guinea pig. Is the FBI a secret research facility? _________________

Doesn't really seem like this has anything to do with game design, it's more like an announcement. Perhaps you could explain how your custom battle system would work? |

I know I'm not good at summaries.
Iblis wrote: | Perhaps you could explain how your custom battle system would work? |
I'm not sure exactly. I ain't the one doing the plotscripting. But I know that it'll be interesting.

So do I. Sparrowhawk and I will do our best. I am sorry that I can't supply you with more info, but I don't want to spoil anything. _________________ Yo. |

I'm not talking about plotscripting. That isn't game design. I was asking about the design of your battle system. What does your game have that requires a custom battle system? What will your system be able to do that the regular OHR battle engine can't? |

The name of the game is Virgin. And, yes, the main hero is named Virgil. No typo here. _________________ Yo. |

Good question... Well, I guess the reason behind that is: I am kinda sick of the OHR's battle engine, and want to do something different. _________________ Yo. |

But different how?
I don't mean to badger you, but it sounds to me that you're announcing a game before you've even started planning it out (and I'm talking about the GAME, not the story). |

If you suck at summaries and have nothing real to tell us, why did you bother making this post?
As for the systems you're gonna incorporate, good luck kid, 'cos you're gonna need it. I'd really be surprised if you pulled it off, honestly, as there hasn't actually been a game released that incorporated a custom battle system well (not counting Scars of Glory since that was more of a tech demo than a real game). |

Because I am a subcanamore (lover of the underdog) and everone else has told you that you "suck", allow me to tell you why I think this may be.~~~

The name is fairly interesting. So let me attempt to break your summary down for you.
Orion wrote: | Virgil was just a normal kid. |
Too many stories have heroes who are just NORMAL until they change. I am sure you can be more original than that. Maybe your character is a celebrity. A big shot in the world of science for example. Or maybe he is a movie star. Anything is more interesting than just NORMAL.
Orion wrote: | He liked to play games with his friends and catch bugs. |
Is the catching bugs part even relevant to the story? It very well could be if you say this hero can control bugs or use them some how as his talent or in his tactics in some way. I can see an original battle system developing from this, actually.
Orion wrote: | But his life changes when the FBI needs a new guinea pig. |
I do like the suspense that this part creates. We don't know what you mean by "the FBI needs a new guinea pig", or where Virgil comes into this story, though. Come back later when you have answers.
Oh, and all the power to you. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

This is utterly, utterly irrelevent and unimportant. The premise and the story in general are almost inconsequential in a game (or a book, or a movie, or a play, for that matter). All that matters is presentation: how the story is laid out, how it unfolds. A good writer/designer/director can take the most bland, stereotypical, cliche storyline and make it beautiful, engaging, and enjoyable. _________________ UP DOWN UP DOWN LEFT LEFT RIGHT RIGHT A B START |

That makes no sense at all. If the FBI is looking for a new guinea pig (which also makes no sense, but that's another issue), they're not going to be taking anybody high-profile. Though they probably wouldn't take a kid either, that gets people angry and makes them look for the kid. They'd probably take some adult single guy with few friends. They'd get somebody who nobody would notice was gone, and if they did, whose disappearance could believably be explained as suicide. |

Honestly, I didn't think of it that way at the time.
Thank Goodness I used two bad examples instead of good ones. Now he is free to come up with his own.
By the way, I truely appreciate you guys trying to set me straight. Don't hurt yourself, though. I am as stubborn as a stump. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...
