I think the lack of general discussion is kind of dehumanizing, myself. Most of the members of the board are what? 13-18? There's older people, but generally most of the members here are antisocial teenagers. That sounds like a bash/generalization, but I think having a social forum helps people like this improve themselves. It has nothing to do with the subject of conversations, but having conversations in general.

In case you people haven't noticed, game production is DOWN since the closing of all social forums here. I'm not saying the two things are completely related, but maybe the people in power are being too robotic for the community's good? Me, I would post more and be more inclined to work on my games if CP had discussions again-- it helps me get to know the new folks, instead of referring to them as "generic newbie." An example: Iblis. I thought Iblis was just another face on the wall until he started posting on CP-games, and now I think he's awesome.

Go on, deny the fact that socialization and relationships are important, but I personally think that it's hurting the community and the motivation of game developers here.

You know how you deal with constant trollers and problem makers? You ban them. The "everyone is special!" mentality does not belong on message forums. Make them improve or get rid of them. It seems people are afraid of this site of "looking stupid" when it has already done enough on it's own to prove that.

I'm all for randomness and off topic outburst (woochaa) but opening the GD board would be like opening the gates of hell. If some noobies get the feel that CP is a bunch of elite tight knit nerdfarm, too bad for them. After awhile you start to learn CP about asking questions about games and making them better n better etc. Its more about production, thats what OHR is about. Not emotional throw up and intellectual constipation. I mean every now and then a stupid thread pops up, and it seems CP even has its own wierd internet dialect. If you absolutly MUST say somthing dumb the IRC always has some people in it ( I've had conversations at like 1:00 at night) and if reeeeealy need to "post" then *ahem* theirs always my (or blackcats) forum site (link in signature).

Oh yez ahand wheeen I readeded ur firzt pozt I waz wowed to fynd dat sum1 else hayd as baaAd GramMER Ayz mi....

How about a "Media" forum where you can discuss stuff like movies, music, books, etc but not useless random things? Kind of like a general board but more focused. That way people get to know other people's interests other than OHR.

Oh yeah, and a spam forum is not a good idea. Everyone will just post there instead of anywhere else. It happened to Zantetsuken, it could happen again.

Well whatever the mods and admin think, "YES" is still winning...

I can't really talk, I wasn't here for the Flame Wars. But I know that I for one would like to see a place for people to have a bit of a chat. If we get some banter going then people would feel much more "at home" with each other. I know I feel like a stranger here. Surely if we all get to know each other a little better we can discuss our ideas more freely, offer advice more openly.

I agree with a trial run since you all seem so against it. Of course I know it must mean a lot more work for you guys in charge... Why not try it out, just see what we - your humble members - are capable of. I'd love to have somewhere to natter with you all. This isn't one person's voice either. Let's re-open the Lounge!
