When I came to CP, it wasn't because I played video games, no. It was because I used OHR.RPG.CE. However, if I were using say... RPGMaker 2000, then this website would be entirely useless to me. Therefore, I don't see how you can get help from a community that doesn't know what the heck you are doing. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Come on, guys, Balth's okay. :(
He actually has been here before, in the Game Design Discussion Board, which, at it's birth was purposed to be for more than just OHR. He was actually talking about this engine, I believe.
And, yeah, he's been on our IRC channels since forever. |

All we're trying to say is we can't hold the enthusiasm he may have wanted us to have for his game. Considering the fact that it's not for what our forum is based on. However, as constructive criticism, I think you all should focus a lot more work onto your tiles. Because they lack a lot. _________________ ---------------Projects----

PHC, thank you for your comments. You've given them, I've read them. Since you have no further purpose to post in this thread, please stop trolling. |

Look, guys. CP was created initially for the OHR, but also to help everyone become better at making games, and making games using other methods is part of that. When you get down to it, game design is game design no matter which engine/system you develop said game for. That being said, game design and creation is what CP is dedicated to, not solely the OHR, therefore announcing a game that's not on the OHR is most welcome.
I mean dang, are you all here to use the OHR forever and have absolutely no interest in other methods for making games? This game should hold everyone's interest in some way, whether you're curious about how they programmed it, what language is being used, or it's gameplay designs and systems. If you're just a gamer, you have a new RPG you'll be able to play eventually. You should be happy he posted this here. He'd like to share something he's helping to create with the rest of you. The fact that it's open source makes it even more worth while as it can be a wonderful learning experience.
So anyhow... Discuss what Balthazar originally posted or don't post at all beyond this point.

Well that being said Cube, perphaps Castle Paradox needs a new section dedicated to game creation outside of the O.H.R.RPG.CE. Perphaps this thread would have been better placed in the Game Design section considering that specific section is not for any particular game construction engine. _________________ ---------------Projects----

I'll be the first to second that. _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

Keep in mind this is also about screenshots. Game Design Discussion vis usually about gameplay and game mechanics, the parts that make it a game, or the way the whole thing comes together. I would've thought Announcements to be fine, really.
But seriously, Balth, I know I was the very first to say it, but you really ought to get 'em to work on the tiles. You guys should've perhaps held off on the screenshots until you had decent tiles, honestly. |

There would be maybe 4 total threads in that board. I will repeat, arguing about what board a thread is in is truly moronic. The announcements are fine.
Warning 2. Back on topic. _________________ You got film in my video game!

Well it was a fine line Unc, either publish tiles that would be criticized, or give the impression that we've become yet another piece of open source project abandonware. I would like to point out that since releasing the screenshots, we've consistently been breaking daily site traffic records. Also, a week and a day into February, and we've got 2/3 the unique visitors that we had in the entire month of January.
It was a gamble, and it paid off. Despite the criticisms, I think it was worth it. |
