Wow, I'm soooooooo original. CHARACTER ART?!

Rolling Eyes
Anyhoo, I'm posting it here mainly because the other art sites I posted it on were one giant idiot...(("OMFgG!!111 I G1VE j00 NO C&C c0z j00 SUuuuk!!!1111", or, "You're making a game? I'm going to totally ignore your drawing just to stretch out the page and try to learn any and everything about the OHR/You can't make a game, because I'm a stupid flamer who refuses to leave my mother's basement."))

Anyhow, onto the drawing:

Okay, I know, there's a LOT of people here who are(quite obviously)much better than me, but this took me a while to do, so please don't get mad. Oookay...

(Please note that the scrawnyness, pointyness, and similarities between the two are a part of the character concept. Oookay... )
C&C appriciated and loved!

Hey, I rather like the coloring and character design. However, the eyes seem to be a little to far apart. Also, it seems a bit strange that the only black lines there are in the drawing are on their nose, whereas everything else is simply shaded.

Ehehehee, the nose thing was my desparate attempt to fix how bad it looked when it was just shaded... And thanks for the input on the eyes, I'll fix it in the sketch(I'm planning on doing a pencil-shaded version).

*scampers off to try and fix the nose more*

Thanks for the C&C! Big grin

They strike me as fairly generic. I'm not insulting the technique, as it's not bad (although anime style is overdone) but from a character design point of view, there's nothing terribly interesting about them.

Aack, sorry, I'll try to work on that more. 'Tis one of my weaknesses... And, yes, anime is WAAAAY overdone.. but I like it Oookay... ... It's just a matter of taste, there, but you have a really good point.

Their faces also look very similar. Consider changing one's hair color. Since it's a game, see how they look with a more "dynamic" hair color, like green or blue.

Aside from that, adding accessories really helps characterize them. Things like bracelets, gloves, headbands, sashes, jewelry, eyeglasses, ribbons, and so on really contribute to making a character un-bland.

For some reason, though, the coloring is oddly attractive. I like the style there. Just... work on what everyone has pointed out.

If I may, I would suggest you take a look at some of the character profiles from a game I'm currently hooked on, Suikoden III. There are 108 of them and they all seem to have their own unique personality.

The accessories thing is a grand idea, thank you. I would have never thought of that(Ah, laziness... Oookay... ).

And, the similarites were intentional, because their personalities are supposed to be pretty symmetrical.

The characters look like siblings. Are they? Also, have you come up with names for them yet?

Anyway. Love the style. their cothing, while not exactlly generic, still dosn't stand out much from the crowd. as St Aora said, consider adding some accessories and maybe a touch more colour. Love the girl's boots though.

Allow me to conclude by saying "I can't draw to save my grandmother."

(Also, try to avoid double-posting. It annoys people for some reason.Rolling Eyes Use the edit button.)

Love the drawing, but I agree, they look more like brother and sister. Can I have you do the graphics for my game?

Eeeep, sorry it took so long.. was doing sketchy-sketches of altered designs for their clothes, and a few added accessories.
The girl's name is Kamnai, and the boy's is Tirrin.
They're not siblings, but they ARE supposed to look veeeerrry alike... (I prolly should've posted this earlier... Oookay... )

The reasons that they look so similar:
1) As I stated earlier, their character concept is supposed to have symmetrical personalities. In the game, thay look, act, and sometimes even think alike(saying things at the same time, sometimes being able to "read each other's minds"...)
2) In the game, there are TONS of races. The build, hair and eye color all depend on the race, and they have the same colors/build because they're the same race.

I can barely finish the graphics for my own games... Oookay...

Just noticed that her left arm disappears past her shoulder. She also appears to be leaning back a little, an awkward position for such a casual pose. Careful with his right arm, too. It starts to go in front but then edges back away.
