Well, now that Yahoo idea would be worth looking into.
On other notes, I actually didn't mess with the Pitch Bend much on this one. As a matter of fact, I kept it fairly well flatlined in its neutral state.
I originally wasn't going to reverb her voice in order to hopefully make her more clear, but caved in and did it anyway. The reason for that was because I wanted the song to sound more ambient (even though it was pretty tight in the first half of the song) a little more towards the heavier parts (as you could probably tell from the fact that the drums were given some reverb to match the vocals and guitars.
As for my own voice, I don't even know how the hell I managed to be on key (although I slipped in one or two spots, I think) considering that I didn't even play the melody before I started singing. I recorded myself with a $10 mic that I picked up at Wal-Mart last year, so as I'm sure you could imagine, the quality really stunk. So, I decided to use that to my advantage and did some heavy effects on it (mostly to bring up the volume and clarity, because the original WAV file sounded low and muffled) and purposely put all the compression effects to make it sound more like I was singing on an intercom rather than a studio mic (since I obviously wasn't going to be able to pull that off).
But anyway, I wasn't as pleased with this turnout as I was with the last song. While this one, I think, is good, it didn't turn out the way I had hoped, but since it was a passing grade, I let it go at that.
Thanks for the critiquing though, Joe. I need it. _________________

You get a $3000 dollar program just for making midis sound realistic and you don't even have a decent mic... _________________ "Everyone has 200,000 bad drawings in them, the sooner you get them out the better."

All I can really say is
"altrock ew :("
On that note, I can't understand a word that synth is singing.
I will be happily returning to listening to my Elliott Smith, thank you very much. :( |

I actually enjoy this music. I want more of it. In fact, a lot more. And my friend wants to know if there's an album that can be bought... That, and me too. Although I don't have any way to send money. So... Free would be about right. Although I suppose I could barter with my "skillz" as a programmer or something. Then again, I want to "make" a program just like this... I'd love to have this kind of power behind me... I couldn't imagine what sort of music I'm come out with.

Excuse me, but I am not Mr. God-I-LOOOOOOOVE Evanescence. Biggest thing I like about them is Lee's vocals, and this is totally missing that. Plus, I noticed the similarities, and that's one reason I didn't like it.
Almost-like-it-except-without-the-great-parts == NOT GOOD
Besides, I'm more of an indy/classic rocker anyway. >:( |

Uncy: Well, ya can't please everybody. /me shrugs
Oh, and by the way, the "==" symbol checks a value;it doesn't assign one.
Phyrfox: Well, I don't have any of this kind of music for sale just yet. Joe Man, however, gave me the idea to hold off on posting entire songs and rather sell the CD when it's done anyway. Since I only made 2 tracks out of a projected 10, it'll be a while before this album is finished.
On that note, I can't wait to be able to just record live vocals.
Joe Man: I don't have the studio components to record vocals yet. There's more to it than just spending $100+ on a studio mic (which I'd personally probably go with solid state as opposed to tube compressed, since you could technically emulate the tube compressed sound with audio plugins with just a solid state mic). I'd also have to get a Motu sound card which goes for $1000 in itself (the Motu acts as a mediator between the microphone and the computer) along with good quality speakers (even though my 2.1 system is pretty awesome, I probably should invest in a $500 set of studio speakers) and two analogs to keep the speakers from blowing to hell when I record vocals at 0 decibels (each of them go for about $99 a piece). So, unlike even I expected at first, a lot of money gets invested in JUST doing live vocals. I am, however, investing in studio equipment. _________________

Solid state versus tube mics? Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought that debate was relegated to amplifiers. I've never heard of a microphone having tubes. Are you talking about the amp for a mic?
That said, despite what the manufactures may claim, solid state is crap compared to tubes. They might "emulate" the sound, but it just doesn't approach the authentic thing. Although my experience lays with guitar amps, solid state amps always turn into garbage at higher volumes. Of course, I guess this may not matter if you're just recording... |

Ooh Setu you should sing all your own songs from now on!! Letter isn't as good as Confessions I have to say, though it's still extremely good! I remain impressed as ever. Having said that I'm gonna go pack my bags and join the camp of "Hate that synth voice." It's not intelligible at all... Other than that I have no constructive critiscism to offer I'm afraid!

Ah shiznit! I'm sorry. I meant preamps. Sorry for that confusion. I was really out of it that day. XP _________________

You should have Sparrowhawk sing one of your songs.
She's really good. (When she doesn't know others can hear her
Anyways... I like both songs, but I'm getting tired of them because "You-know-who" keeps playing them over and over again. _________________ Yo. |

I do, for one, but I know nobody on this board personally. So it's not me. But I love these songs. I want to buy the full-length CD already.
