Isn't it obvious? No? Methinks me better explain better. Ok- first we have the spell list. You know, what you go to to choose the spells from, usually labeled something like magic.
Step two is not neccesary, but makes the spell look better. For example, we'll call it disease. When you hit the spell list, your character will always cast disease, which will chain to different spells.

Or, you know, you could put all the status ailment spells to the Disease spell list, and then set the spell list to random. You can only create 32767 attacks, so don't go about wasting them. (lol) _________________ im realy ded |

yeah, but my way looks better... trust me. I've tried both ways, and while it is a matter of preference, my way I find makes the spell look better. _________________ You know, and I know, that all that I want is the red dominoe |

Quote: | 1)Make a spell list with random effects. Label it something like Disease or another cool name.
2)Make a bunch of the same spell, called whatever the spell list is. Be sure to number them!
3) Make an equal number of status ailment spells, but make varying degrees of strength for a more interesting effect.
4)Make all the spells from step 2 chain 100% to step 3. |
Seems to me that the only difference between your method and his is that you have a bunch of spells named disease that chain to the status afflictions, right? Well, that seems a little unnecessary to me since the spell list has random effects. I'm pretty sure that when you make a spell list with random effects, the player won't be able to view this spell list through the menu screen anyway, so they'll never know the difference. Maybe I'm not exactly understanding what you're describing. _________________ My name is...

I think it's so it looks like you are casting one spell that has a random effect, instead of a just a random spell. You can do this just as easily by naming all the spells the same thing and giving them the same animation (actually you don't even need to name it if it doesn't display its name). _________________ Ssalamanderr's Journal!: http://www.livejournal.com/users/ssalamanderr/

I figured since he said "looks better" it could be a graphical effect, in which case it's totally dependent on the situation and person who's making it. Also, in this case he shouldn't've bothered mentioning it. |

for spells, I found it can have an item cost. Hence, the first actual in-game spell components! ie, eye of newt plus powdered toad makes the "Toad" spell. |

(Besides obvious complaints) Since ubersetzung. But I hadn't thought about that. That could work really well: you learn new recipes as spells, and colect ingredients. Now, if they could work out of battle as well... _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
