Why exactly am I obligated to help you? I don't particularly fell like holding your hand, especially when a) you aren't very good, b) you don't seem to want to put the effort into improving unless it involves constant blowjobs from your peers, and c) I don't like you.

Then don't post. Simple as that.

It isn't the critic's job to explain HOW a thing should be done, only WHAT is wrong and WHY. Hunter explained that Eggie's art lacked structure, that's enough. Eggie asked Hunter would tell him what he should do from there (when "study human stucture and modify your art to match" is the obvious answer) and Hunter told him he wouldn't. Sure, he didn't say it all nicely, but come on, that's just not Hunter's schtick.

I really don't see what he did wrong here.

If you can't take some negative criticism without breaking into hysterics, you've got some problems, man. If you really respected your art, you'd ignore the bad comments and not complain, but right now you're just feeding the flames with your whining. As for your art, I think you're trying too hard. Since you've ardently pointed out that you want advice, not criticism, I'll suggest

    1. Looking at good art

    2. Practice drawing small, simple things to get your pen skills up to snuff, then moving from there

Forget it.

I tried to fix up structure. I would say I did an okay job for having very little clue on what it is, but hey, I gave him more shoulder.

I now see a huge difference... and I am now taking a liking to your art.

Those cloths really help your art. Nice pose too. Just gotta work on hands a bit (Dont we all?).

Think skeletal structure. If you notice, people aren't shaped like tubes. And I don't think you quite got it with Giz's comment on the hair. Look at the way Fenrir draws hair on his furries. It looks a lot more natural, like it's really a part of them, as opposed to looking like a wig as it does on yours. Most, if not all, of Fen's characters have hair that's the same color as their fur, if you'll notice.

Jesus, Hunter! If you hate his art THAT much and don't have CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions to help him improve, then just don't post!

Why are you obligated to help him? You're not! If you don't want to help him, then keep your mouth shut.

This forum is for people to post art to receive criticism. Criticism doesn't include "helping". Like I said, you tell a person WHAT is wrong and WHY. HOW is their job.

The first part is pretty much accurate, though it would moreso be an extention of the base animal's natural fur characteristics. A short furred furry character would appear more natural with short hair, wheras a longer furred one would seem to fit better with longer hair. Also, the straightness of curlyness of the hair should be reflected somewhat in the fur - Ie: Sheep don't look right with anime-straight hair.

The color of the hair actually has nothing to do with that of the fur, though if possible should be seen somewhere on it. For example, a fox with brown 'boots' could look more 'natural' with brown hair. This doesn't mean that you can't experiment. It's a fantasy creature for crying out loud, you could make the colors whatever you wanted - though it's more aesthetically pleasing to try to keep them somewhat realistic.

I'd suggest checking out the following sites and familiarizing yourself with the anatomy. These folks are pretty much -THE BEST- furry/anthropomorphic wildlife artists out there. As an aside, these two tend to seperate and label their "NSFW" stuff pretty well, so it's mostly safe for work related browsing.

http://www.goldenwolfen.com/
http://www.darknatasha.com/

And while you're at it, shove the "VCL Pic of the Day" into your Livejournal Friends list, as they tend to pick out the best uploads to that site each day. It'd also more expose you to the material you're wanting to draw, but not all of it is safe for work. Again, they tend to censor it fairly well, doing the remote link-policy that these forums have.

Well "La-dee-dah."

Thanks Fenrir. I have a clue on how to fix the situation with my hair design.

Since this has pretty much served its point, and the only thing left is random flames going back and forth, I'll lock this and let it gradually "sage" to the bottom of the pile. If anyone can come up with an absolutely valid reason to keep this open, go ahead and PM me, and I'll give it my best consideration. Eggie, if you want this reopened, just give me a yell, mmkay?

Thanks.

-Fenrir
