I noticed that in FFH, fennir skills in the battle menu that weren't under lists. I haven't looked that hard, but I can't figure out how to do it. So, how do I do it? _________________ "what everyone went around calling you white stormy?"

You mean a random effect list with only one move in it? (as opposed to MP-based) _________________

This is a very neat trick actually. I consider using it for just one type of attack. For instance, in Halloween Quest 1 I had a character who countered. Now, you didn't select the counter attack, but when you selected it, it would happen. And after a few level ups he'd learn a more powerful counter. If he would have had a healing spell mixed into that it wouldn't have been too good. This is an example of the random skill set. MP Based and FF1 based all show a menu for skills, which is alright I suppose. But that's an example of the random. And if you don't know how to change it, just go to skill stats or whatever and select the type where it says MP Based. It's simple and easy. _________________ ---------------Projects----

okay, so I use a random reffects, and It chooses a random attack from the list I give? sounds easy enough. Thanks! _________________ "what everyone went around calling you white stormy?"

No problem. The best example of what to use this for is probally stealing. It's so annoying going through a skill menu to steal, I mean, it doesn't take any time, but this way is much quicker. And one more thing, the attacks you put in random effect should have no MP cost. Because of the fact that it doesn't show how much MP it cost to perform the attack considering there is no menu. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Not only that, but, if the hero runs out of MP, they'll still be able to use any attacks in random lists that require MP. |

I didn't know, probally because I never tested that out, but I had no idea that you could continue to use the MP using Random techniques. Either way, in case your character has two sets of skills. Like for example. Steal, and Skills. Steal could be your random skills. And "Skills" could be MP based. And if you stole a lot and then went to use skills and were all out of MP you wouldn't know what the hell was going on. So just take the safe path and make Random Attacks cost no MP. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Ah, one of the many silly flaws still present in the battle system...
If you want a random effect spell to cost something, make it do HP damage. Interesting alternative. |

That probally is the best way to do that. Considering you always see your HP. And you could design a cool character based off that. Like a vampire or necromancer, I dunno. But still, be creative with it the way so many people have. _________________ ---------------Projects----

I learned this when making Akira's "Ragnarok" ability.
Attacks with higher numbers in the list are more likely to be selected than earlier ones. I have no idea if this was intentional or just happens that way. _________________
