There is just one problem with the rules:
Quote: | No ripping from other games/artists. Submissions must be your own work.
|
and then
Quote: | If the character is not your creation, you must recieve permission from the creator to use his character.
|
Those rules contradict each other.
Whats the point of submitting someone elses work? You don't truly deserve to be voted for. This should be to see who can draw the best male character - not take someone elses male character and see if its the best. _________________

I'm pretty sure what they're saying is that the picture has to be drawn by you, but that you can use someone else's character if you get their permission. _________________ Locked

Why specify 3 colors as the minimum? That's kind of a bizarre limitation, I mean, I don't see any reason why we'd be regulating the minimum, though I can fully understand and get behind the 256 limit. |

3 colors is the minimum, so kahn color your pic some more, or else its breaking the rules, and it will be out.
why 3 colors? because I want people to put some effort into their drawings, I want you to show me your best, and line art is just the begining. one more reason is that we live in a world of colors, and line art is kind of dull, although it is a good begining.
anyway, me and machu reviewed the rules, and the 3 color limit as well as all if the above rules stay unchanged until the end of contest. _________________ Try my OHR exporter/importer.

You could even add a shade of gray and that'd count as a third color. _________________

Well, exactly. I mean, it's not that much effort to add an extra color, and if I wanted to do some goofy line-art, I could just add in a dot of blue or something somewhere, and technically be in. It just seems like it's kind of pointless, because it's so easy to bypass, and it's not really keeping out any joke entries. I'd understand if you wanted a minimum of 16 or something, but 3 is just bizarre.
EDIT: Oh, I'm working on my entry, it's going to be a picture of the Hero from Oh Shit, is it dark in here! (It's renamed something with an A now, I forget waht. A night in the darkness, maybe.), B.A. Remus. I haven't drawn in a long time, so it might take me awhile to get it just right. Are multiple entries allowed? I don't think I saw a rule against it. |

Ysoft you bastard.
This post regards your color rule. Sin City is one of the three most beautiful comic book series ever drawn. Do you know that your three color rule would ban some of the greatest artists in the history of Japan? It would also ban almost all sculptors. Michaelangelo's David would be banned from this contest!
Of course I'm MORE offended at the "No violence/sex" rule but I don't think I could possibly make everyone here understand my reasoning without a thirty page essay. _________________ BANDIT REVOLVER, DOWNLOAD IT OR ELSE.

Agree with Gil. Why is black and white/white and red/etc. not acceptable? Not only are some of the best works in black and white, but good b&w pixelation can be hardcore badass.
Thats just my two cents. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

You want to ban lineart, ban lineart. Don't rule out two-color masterpieces because you don't know what you're doing. Khan's is actually really bad with the color and would be better without.
I might have to enter this one, seeing how bad most of the entries to the last one were. |

My first entry, Mr. BA Remus, as he was seen (Or not seen) in God Damnit, is it DARK in here! I hope to enter another better version of him later when I have more time, but there's a far more sexy individual to be working on this time. I shall return. |

i would think that an odd number such as 3 colors would be chosen because that is the technical limitation of the nes, the commodore64, and i think of atari, and colecovision. there were some clever programers who got around this by use of multiple sprites (ff, smb2, mm, earthbound zero...) of course. _________________ LJ.Art

Komera, for a MAXIMUM limitation, yes. But they have not made it the maximum, they've implemented a MINIMUM colors limit. |
