why not just do a black background, a bright color font, and whtever else stands out?

Highlight the above area.

Code for the color is #eeefee.

This looks less professional and isn't as easy on the eyes as a light background and a dark font.

What do you think of the current design? I raised the contrast some, and also took the time to validate my HTML and CSS, too.

rpgspotKahn and myself and whoever else I don't know about.

That's all I have for now.

Oh, and I made a transparent border for the logo, versus actually adding a border. Does that look "nicer" or should I just go with a plain ol' black border?

i liked the plain ol' black border better... doesn't quite fit it, and it's just a bit strange

Well, Phyrfox should be doing most of the HTML, he's quite talented in that area. I'll do more of the arranging of the content and such - But we both help a little here and there, so there is not really set positions.

The team consists of just Phyrfox and myself. Later, we may look for assistants and such - but thats probably only once we've got this thing off the ground.

Well, it's a bit more interesting of an idea, certainly. I'll try the black-border idea tomorrow. I do agree there needs to be a border, in either case, the question being "how much" of a border to use. In case y'all hadn't noticed, this uses all CSS to format the page, so it's quite easy to add such items quickly.

And yea... I'm the HTML guy... and an occasional idea. Really, this is rpgspotKahn's brain-child, I'm just along for the ride. Although it's certainly nice to be able to contribute to the community, being that my compiler *still* won't let me actually link my project-- although, I've resolved the compiler's "can't find library" problem, so I'm thinking there's something stupid I'm missing... At some point, anyway, I'm going to split the OHR Domain page into several parts (index.html and index2.html, etc) to test the new designs... so I'll try suggestions until we get to a point where nothing much more can be done.

Great to see someone reliable putting together a magazine. I'll try to submit some stuff later on.

Just an idea, I may run a weekly caption contest. The picture will be a screenshot taken from any random game, which will then be but before either the community or a group of judges. The winning entry will then be submitted to the mag, along with the next weeks picture. I know its not much but it will help fill space. Opinions please.

I'm working on increasing my reliability. On the upside, CODING HAS RESTARTED. I've got SDL working again now, so I will now be able to continue coding. Weeks behind schedule, it will be an uphill battle to regain lost time; however, OHR Domain is a simple project that requires virtually no time in comparison.

I like the idea of a weekly caption contest. That could provide for some interesting things, certainly. I'm just wondering if CP offers script hosting as well. If not, it's not too big a deal, but it would be a nice bonus. In the meantime, something like that would be tallied by sending votes to an email address, and manual counting would be done. Not too bad, as long as things work out well.

Anyway, I'm off for now. Lots of work to do. And so little time. I'm looking forward to your ideas.

Ok, the main page is nearing its completion and a few things are being finalised - The only part that we lack is the community input.

I have gathered a few articles mostly written by myself, but I think it would be great if the community could get involved as well.

I know that people always say that a first edition magazine should be made solely by the creators and no one should place input until it is proven. But the page is going very well and according to plan. We would love to recieve some other input, you can rely that it shall be placed in our first issue.

The caption contest sounds grand. If Fernurion is happy with it, I would like him to host something like this. Find a picture that has a lot of relevance and interest and send it to me with a small paragraph detailing this issues contests rules/regulations.

Please, Input is so greatly appriciated. Its supporting a good cause, the community lacks something like this.

Thank you,
Paul

I'd forgotten about this. Are you going to accept game previews, like OHR Weekly did? Not that I have one, but I'm sure people whould be eager to send them in... or just release a demo instead...

Things we shall be accepting:

Art
(Comics/Pictures)

Writing
(Stories/Articles/Interviews)

Reviews
(Write-up on a released game)

Previews
(Write-up on an upcoming game)

Other
(The Other/Misc section is a section of the OHR Domain that we shall place the things people submit that do not relate to any of the other topics on the page. If you perhaps have a review on another RPG engine or a preview on a 3D programmed game of your own or even a joke that you feel you need to share with us - send it here)

Send all your input to: "paulmyb@thepub.co.za" to get into the first issue. This email is temporary for the first issue.
