And here you were saying this wasn't a big deal, then make it sound like he has a criminal record. I'm saying in order for me to forgive him for this particular mistake, he needs to get his AWESOME on (and as an admin, I know that the updates will be AWESOME).

Funny, I don't remember saying anything about IM being a criminal but thanks for putting words in my mouth. What I said is that you were a tool for saying that your trust in IM would be regained if he decided to release new features. The example I gave was one where a tool stopped trusting someone and started trusting them again for a stupid and completely unrelated reason. Even so, you said nothing of forgiveness, you said trust. Maybe you misphrased it, so fine. Even so, I hardly see why IM needs your forgiveness. He didn't really do anything to you other than tricking you.

I guess I did.

I was mostly refering to your example.

Precisely. I'd be happy to forgive him for tricking me if he did something I've really been looking foward to in this site, perhaps even more than I wanted.

Right back at ya.

as someone who has seen the new features by IM (and the rest of the people who worked on them), i do hope they are released, for they are excellent. i don't think he's the kind of person to like his work to go to waste, so i do expect that they'll eventually be made public.

and machu, arguments like yours are exactly the type of thing that keep IM from releasing new features. it's like you're treating him as a slave: 'if he makes new features i'll forgive him, but otherwise i won't like him'. he's under no obligation to do all this work for the community. the reason the last few ohrrpgce community sites shut down (fortis's zantetsuken and steve's rpgonline and my own ohrrpgce monthly / reasonably septaweekly) is exactly because of that type of attitude, the type that says 'if people don't work hard for me, for free, then they're lazy and worthless'. and if cp shuts down, it will again be because of that attitude.

Agreed. He doesn't have to do anything for anyone.

Like I said before, this prank is on the community as a whole, not CN. While cruel, IM was just including CN in that group, something I might even have attempted if I were IM, for the fun of it.

People have accused IM of throwing a fit because CN ruined his prank. Yes, I would be pissed off if that happened, but that's not the problem. The problem is that a thousand people are suddenly declaring their hatred of IM. This seems to be a typical reaction around here, but I can't possibly bring myself to hate the nicest guy I've met online.

Rinku is right, people's attitudes seem to be equivalent to asking for CP to be shut down.

pfft, i know i would become his friend again if he made me brownies.

this joke wasn't even cruel! i dont get some of you people, you're all pissed off at IM for a playing a joke and pretending to shut down CP, but when you find it's just a joke you want it shut down anyways.

so IM fucked up on a little joke because somebody leaked a little info, the joke was ruined and somehow people got hurt?! what the hell, nobody got hurt, CN just made it seem like his life was ending because he wasn't getting complete ownership of CP (which he couldn't have anyways). CN now has a buttload of cash of which he can do whatever the hell he wants to do with, how can he possibly be sad?

IM was planning to enhance CP for all of us, and make CN the new ruler of it, he wasn't planning on destroying CN's life and hiring hitmen to kill his family off. he was trying to make him happy, but he just kind of messed up in his planning, and other unfortunate events.

Jack, do you have any idea what's been going on? Seriously.

For the record: CN did not know that his connection was incapable of hosting CP.

I've seen this happen through the many ages of the OHR communities; people get so caught up in stupid shit like this while letting their projects and creativity slip away.

So, anyway.

...nuh uh... prove it. Who else was directly effected because of IM's prank to better the community.

And I'm glad to see that most people posting in this thread are starting to see the rational side of things.

Moogle: he seemed to hit it right on...

STFUAMYG, yes. That's age-old wisdom.

Jazz, let's agree to disagree, yes? I think you're wrong. In any event, STFUAMYG and I'll STFUAMMG.

Erm, read that sentence a couple times... Perhaps you meant "who else was negatively affected".

In anycase, I'm willing to STFUAMMG, or rather, MMGEI

yes, i am fully functional and capable of knowing what is going on around me, thanks for asking. what i (as well as Jazzman) am trying to figure out is: how exactly did anybody get hurt from this?

the only reason anybody should be hurt is because we aren't getting those new updates now because people had to whine about it.
