First, I'd like to say hello again to everyone. I doubt anyone remembers me. I used to frequent here quite often as PIcaRDMPC, though I'm certain my old account has long since been deleted due to inactivity.
Anyway, I've come here because I need help, specifically with artist. I'm working on a game called Digital Breakdown. In short, it's based on the members of the Ansem Report(www.ansemreport.com) forums, though it's full of orginal characters as well, and isn't your typical forum users game. I originally was writing a novel under the same title, but my difficulty with the writing led me to choose a game route instead.
However, we have a problem. We're using RPG Maker XP, since we have great need of it's various features, plus we were going to use the preprovided tilesets and whatnot. However, where character sprites, both walkabouts and battle graphics are concerned, we're going completely original. And that's where the problem lays.
None of us are good at spriting. Seriously. Even the best AR artists can't sprite worth a damn. We did have a spriter for a short while, but he has since left without even doing one peice of work. What I was hoping is that some of you would be willing to aid us for spriting, if you're willing to, that is. I can give you a great deal more information on the game if you contact me on AIM, and there is a website for it as well, though at the moment it is bland, dull, sparse, and practically informationless.

Anyways, I thank you all in advance, and I apologize if this thread is actually illegal under the CP rules. _________________

This concerns me. Unless your game relies completely on game play- like "Tetris" (Or "Tetris attack"?)- your game will be less enjoyable if you can't compose a decent story where it is needed. I know story does not = game, but enjoyability might be hinderred if your game has a story and you don't have someone checking the quality of story telling. I hope you guys have a dialog/plot editor to check dialog and the flow of your plot. I see you have a director, and an editor, but I wanted to check if you had the right resources.
Back on topic: As far as your request for graphics is concerned... I wish you the best of luck. A lot of people here already have their projects, so it might be difficult. Not impossible, just difficult. It might help if you showed us how badly you need our help. Show us what work you've done. I can assume you attempted to do some by yourself, and it didn't work out for you. Currently, your gallery is empty. I would really love to see clips or snaps of your cutscenes and other art. Character designs would be nice to look at as well.
Quote: | Features:
60+ Playable characters, including a vast number of ARers, original characters, and secret hidden characters.
Wonderfully detailed world, full of culture and a flavor all to itself.
Large variety of original foes, as well as some favorites from the Final Fantasy series, such as Tonberries, Chocobos, and even Moogles.
A vast number of items, weapons, armor, and accessories. Each character even gets their own unique ultimate armor and accessory!
A large number of Flash cutscenes, complete with full sound, including voices!
Fully fleshed professional quality anime opening and closing movies! |
I wouldn't throw the word "original" around too much. Haha.
This information I found is slightly titilating. This sounds a bit like another FF fan game, though.
Sorry, but you've lost my interest. Some people might find this exciting to help with, though.
PS: Pssst. Use "Sphere" instead... _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Ah, let me correct this misinterpretation. It's not the story itself that is lacking. It's my ability to translate the details into words. Specifically, where stuff like actions are concerned. If you've ever seen any of my works, you can tell that the story is good, it just doesn't flow.
Whereas presenting the images in a visual style, such as a game, allows me to present the story with no problem in that regard. The story is very good indeed. My problem has always been taking the images and stuff I see in my mind and translating it to the proper details. Pure text wasn't enough. I submit to you example A:
http://www.phpbbforfree.com/forums/picardmpc-about4.html
Unless that link is just really screwed up, it links to the original novel, that never got very far beyond the first chapter because I couldn't write it.
If that link isn't correct, then I'll link you to the main forum and direct you to look in Main story--->The Ansem Report: Digital Breakdown thread.

I can see where it could be interpreted as a FF fan game, but it's definitely not that. I'm really only using a few things from Final Fantasy because I like them. In reality, the vast number of people who would play the game know everything already, so that information can be misleading.
[s]And we don't really have much in the way of graphics.[/s] The people currently working on concept art have yet to give me any, though if it's necessary I could definitely get them to give me what they have thus far.
Well, I'm going to edit this post and retract that statement, which was incorrect. I had stated it because I didn't think Drago would want me to use her art as a reference. Here's a link to her DA account; all the DB stuff is clearly labled.

There's a couple other additional peices of art, including an incredible picture of the main antogonist, but I don't know where it is and the person I'd need to ask is nowhere to be found.
And if you don't feel like browsing through the gallery, here's a journal entry with links to them all.
