the contrast is significantly improved. i'd like the red areas more if they were a bit more contrasty still.

I'll comment on the second one (blue guy) first.

First, too short. Also, I can understand where you are going with the robe (kinda too big for him, eh?) but it looks...really squoosy, like he's sinking into a bog or something Raspberry!

This is especially evident in the attack frames, where he is MUCH taller then in his walking frames. Rather then just have him bounce up and down, maybe in the second frame his foot could show (Similar to the first attack frame)? He looks a little too much...sliding right now.

The first one (red dude) is awsome. INteresting, I drew an almost identical pose for the original Stop (the two knives, 3/4 view). Didn't get past the first walking frame though (I died. Really. It was so sad Crying )

ANYWAY. It's awsome. My only complaints are in his casting and "almost dead" frame, his coat poofs too much. He looks REALLY FAT. Also, his feet could move more when he frame walked (he's shuffling, I know, just...not...HIS FEET DONT MOVE ENOUGH OK?! Raspberry!). Awsome knifes though. Looks sexariffic.

Keep it up. Don't overwork yourself. Raspberry!

The cat thief looks really awesome dude. You have made graphics that will make your game even more fun due to visual enjoyment. These are some of the best graphics I have seen for OHR. Keep up the great work. And Velius (name right?) looks bad ass when he swipes down at you. Keep it up. And as Shadow said, don't overwork yourself.

i like the old version better in this case, because the coat is so shiny in the new version, it looks like it's made of goo. it,s just that one bright pixel on top of his hood that causes it.
otherwise, it has almost ideal contrast and much more characterful.

In the D&D campaign of Timestream Saga (brings new meaning to the words "Second Edition") I played Skoll for a few sessions. Let me tell you a few of the unusual quirks about him.

He consistently rolled 1's. 1's are bad in D&D.

Code:
Kotaru: I attack the nearest monster (20, 20, 20, 20) wow.  4 criticals in a row.  He's dead now.

Skoll:  I er..  attack the nearest monster (1) Goddammit. (Sword goes through belly)

Kotaru: O_O

Perhaps this should shed some light on his second attack frame, as it's a bit of an inside joke.

Skoll's a lover, not a fighter!

And I like the new one much much.

The legend of Cale I design looks like a mere skeleton of the first one. Naturally, I like the new design better. The only thing that I would change is the size of the guy riding it. He's a lil' chunky too. This would look all the more ominous if he was smaller in comparison to the mecha.

Over...

As that was the original design for the mech back in LoC1, its updated version is indeed a tribute to it. Astute observers would notice that this is also the 'generic soldier with the blue hat and an H' that's shown up in every game at least once. The size of him is also part of the aestetic design of TSSE, which was to try to keep enemies and heroes in proportion to one another (which is the opposite of Final Fantasy 4-6).

That wyvern sprite is great!

It reminded me of the Breath of Fire style a LOT.. so i tweaked it to an exact match (shininess)

Wow this thread's old. Anyway, here's some SPOILERS for the impatient masses.

The lemonpuppy. Lemonpuppies are an OLD OLD enemy that showed up rather frequently in the very first Legend of Cale game. They, along with a few favorites from the series are still being upgraded and placed in, mostly as tributes to the games that started this one.
