I'm just curious how many people would be interested in an RPG, that would take place on this forum. In it, players would create a character, using a set amount of stats, and then would also have money to create their own vehicle. Be it a mecha, or a fighter,a submarine, or even a tank or some such. I can give more details if wanted, but I'm reluctant to type it out until I'm sure that it wouldn't be for nothing. |

What kind is what I'm trying to decide. I don't want it to be a party going on a quest, with dicerolls and crap, but something more relaxed, where a person could play themself, if they wished. I'm thinking, perhaps some kind of Space Mecha-styled thing, (Because that's where I got the idea, years ago, on a Gundam forum.) but, I'm pretty open to suggestions.
I'll see if I can get the things together, so people could start work on characters and vehicles, and I'll try and get it posted by tommorow, or maybe the night after. |

You know those skate boarding games where you can pick out your character and its board well what if you did that but they could be able to build up the character with like a story board of how it got there and then like it ended up in a city and bascially the character has to get through it by what the computer knows its weakness and its strength but i dont no how you could make it work considering you would need to know everything before the game was built. its like building a city but yet through a person.

DAMMIT! AN ENTIRE... WHAT? PAGE OR SO FOR THE POST AND SOME DAMNED BUG KEEPS ME FROM POSTING IT, THEN HAS IT READILY DELETED WHEN I HIT 'BACK.' GREAT.
I'm not going to bother writing up descriptions and suggestions for these things, so, since you''ve already said it won''t be incredibly technical, PROMISE ME IT WON''T BE COMPLETELY FREEFORM.
Freeform will work with some big limitations, but I've seen too many rpgs that are almost completely freeform go straight to hell because people won't be reasonable... _________________ Preserve OHR history! Do it for the children! |

Blazes, that's why I always copy my messages before hitting "submit." It saves a lot of trouble.
But anyway, I think this is a great idea, although I'll wait a bit to see more info before submitting a character(s). |

Blaze: It won't be entirely freeform. I mean, no one with a 1 in piloting is going to be able to fly into an area, and shoot down 50 aces without getting a scratch.
Pixie: I have no idea what you're trying to explain.
As for rules and plot, I'm working with a bit of a handicap, as every time I start to type in something, I get the sudden urge to delete it, and pretend I never thought of the thing, but, here's what I've got so far.
As for the players, I assume most of you will want to pilot something. If not, you don't have to. The 5 stats for a character are:
Constitution: This is key for fighter pilots, and basically explains how healthy and physically strong you are. A character with high constitution will be able to withstand high g-forces experienced in fast fighters, walk away from injuries easily, and be able to, frankly, lift heavy stuff.
Charisma: How charming/pretty the character is. Based upon this, you might be able to distract a foe, tell a convincing lie, negotiate terms of surrender, or get people to buy you drinks.
Piloting: This is pretty important for everyone. It tells how well you can pilot something. I'd like for you to pick a primary and secondary type of craft with this. Primary will get the full stat, and secondary half of it, this way people can't go around flying anything. This, will decide how you can do in combat inside a vehicle, (I'll say anyone can drive a motorcycle, or car, or something simple) and also gives a bit of a rating on what type of manuevers you can get away with. For instance, someone with a 5 in this, who tries to fly under a bridge, while chasing an enemy plane isn't likely going to hit his target, and may crash, however someone with 10 can do it without much panicking.
Technical: Technical represents your mechanical ability. For instance, someone with, say, 5 in it, can install their own weaponry, and someone with 10 can repair damage to their vehicle. Someone with 15 can actually build their own simple weapons.
Tactical: If you want to have your insane plans working, this is the stat. For instance, someone with a high tactical skill is more likely to be able to plan and think their way out of a problem, and will also notice more often what his opponent is trying to do.
You'll start with 25 points to distribute between the stats, however you like, and 2,000 credits. I'm not done writing up descriptions for the vehicles and things quite yet, and I'll explain more in depthly as to the stats, and how much you'll need to do what. But, for vehicles, you'll choose from say, different types of mechs, fighters, armor (as in tank) or capital ship (Battleship, Destroyer, etc.), then choose what kind of armor, and choose a price in a range. So, if the price range for a fighter is 600-1000, I could spend 600 and choose iron armor to have a pretty heavy, and lightly armored craft, as opposed to 1,000 and titanium which would be light, and, though relatively thinly armored, pretty well protected as well.
Then, you'd buy add-ons, weapons, radar, cloaking devices, and things like that. After that, it'd be basically up to you, to write down what you wanted it to look like. I'll have a template ready for entrants pretty soon, as well as the weapons, vehicles, armor, and things ready, maybe by tommorow night. |

Hmmmm..... sounds like an armored core meets a command & conquer RPG.
Hee hee hee.... So far..... I'm thinking.... YEAH! This is going to be fun! Just make sure to keep Setu away from the Ammo shed and we'll all be fine.... LOL!
And Iblis... You had better stick to a gundam. Though Robotech is awsome and the Mecha are very well balanced, I think gundams are alot stronger and better equipped. _________________ You may only address me as OVERLORD Neko-Kame... Never Ne-Ne-Ka! |
