The guy with the cap in "The Cave" picture is way too striking-a-pose. It puts the focus on him when it feels like it shouldn't be.

Its a bit late to erase but thanks anyway. The coat and gawdy crap stays. The reason is he's bully who's full of himself and always wears his Fubu shirts, newest Nikes, and a muscle shirt to show of f his 6 pack. Rolling Eyes

It wasn't his design I was talking about, but his pose. It just kind've breaks up the picture is all I'm saying.

Proofread, Unc.

I agree, though -- he becomes the unintentional center of the drawing by pulling an "Action Pose!" The drawing is trying to direct my attention gradually to the right, but Action Hero in the middle keeps pulling me back.

Grr.. These are great pictures, albeit not perfect (nothing is), but the images are a bit large for the message board. It stretches the posts out horizontally, and I HATE SCROLLING HORIZONTALLY to read...
brb... Ok. I took my happy pills, and I feel better now.

I don't think the bully pose is that dynamic, but he does draw more emphasis than most of the characters. Personally, my eyes are more drawn to the character that is closer to the front, the one with the torch. Both his size, and the difference in light. However, the bully is indeed the first character emphasized, looking left to right (the path that most eyes follow). Flipping bully's position with Torch man's position might switch the emphasis around.

My favorite, by far, is the monster. Badass, man. LONG LIVE MONSTERS!
The design is decent, but what I like the best about it is the depth I perceive in it. The claw almost reaches out to grab me. I suggest you find a better way to draw fire, though. It doesn't look like it moves like fire, yet I am sure it's fire because it generates light... Take another look at that.

I have no major qualms about the first and last ones. The last one has a pretty sweet pose, what with the sword on his back. A line is created by the sword laying across his back and that line crosses the line running from his right knee to his left foot. Maybe putting more of a diagonal to the way the sword is set would look more natural.
The first one is well done, but generally uninteresting compared to the others.
Good work.

Never said he looked dynamic, just attention-whoring. In fact, I think it's how static the pose actually is that makes it not work for what it is. If it were something more dynamic, I could buy that he was something more than misdrawn.

So, do we agree that switching the Torch wielding character's position with the bully will make him slightly less attention whoring? I acknowledge you entirely, Unc.

If and when I redo the picI'll just make the bully (I think Randal would be a good name) more uninteresting. I'm not switchin him with Chad (the torch dude) cuz he's supposed to be the popular guy, the false hero that just fucks things up. Smokin'

What? Make one of your characters UNinteresting? WHAT? Why not make the other characters MORE interesting. both ways balance him out, but the latter is probably better for you. Sad...

So which character is the most popular? Chad or the Bully? Ask yourself who you want to be the emphasis and put them in a position where they are most noticeable.

I don't want to be a burden. I, and the others, only want to share some tricks with you that can be applied anywhere and make something even more tastefull.

Leroy, what he's saying is he's going to redraw the picture so it doesn't break the flow. That is A Good Thing.

I know. I just miswrote my thoughts. Spread more butter on the toast. Don't be wasteful and scrape some off, in a manner of speaking.
Both making Randle less interesting and making the gang more interesting work. That's all I'm trying to say. The flow won't be broken if they are all equally interesting, right? And that is a rhetorical question. Wink
