Thomas
Male
5'5" I think.
I'm 18; maybe 81.
I've lived in Nevada for about 10 to 11 years now.
When I'm not working my job, I'm working (most of the time struggling) on anything creative, and usually anything concieved of through my acute megalomania; hence the struggling. The real struggle comes, however, between my raw creativity, and what is "popular". I don't pretend my war with what is "popular" is unique, but it is a difficult fight regardless.
I tend to let the future weigh more in my head than the here and now. It's taken much time and effort to teach myself to think about the steps and goals involved in a larger step\goal. Generally, though, I'm always climbing a steep hill, because I simply choose to pursue the impossible. As well as progressing as who I am, I spend a lot of time figuring out ways to be who I'm not, in order to learn specific aspects of whatever person that may help me in some area.
Many people have told me I was born to be famous. I write, I create music, I draw, I act, I invent languages, (I actually like math -- hell, I'm even good with the girls), and generally, I've always felt a certain higher calling tugging at me my entire life. The problem is, I doubt I'll ever recieve this thing called fame, and many times I wonder if fame is even all that great.
What seems to be the most important thing to me is to make my mark. I don't want my death to be remembered by only some. I want a part of me to live forever, and matter to somebody.
My particular mark is this: break the boundries, change the rules, destroy convention, and mainly give life an interesting spin, which includes the encouragement of rebelliousness in others, since society seems to be bent on making every living thing conform to set scopes of reality.
You can tell, perhaps, that I don't like religion much.
My strongest points seem to be my creativity, my sincerity, my articulate tongue, and my empathy.
My weakest points seem to be pessimism, impracticality, forgetfulness, over-self-criticism, and a tendency to annoy and\or rub people the wrong way when I'm not putting my speech through certain logical filters in my head. I also tend to care too much about what other people think, despite my highly developed sense of individualism.
Anyway, I've spouted enough. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

I consider the friends I made here as some of the best I have, we've seen alot through the years together, and to this day we still sit in IRC wasting time that should be spent making games, working on schoolwork, or other real-life endeavors, yet here we are seven years later doing the same stuff... its awesome. _________________

It would be really nice if we had just started with the metric system, instead of a system that used to change based on how long the King's arm was.
I read somewhere someone referring to Pink Floyd as a conformist band. I'm not sure that I wholly agree, but I see the point. Certainly 70s Pink Floyd (and especially later) can be seen to be slowly conforming more and more to what they realize the public wants to hear, all without ever really giving a damn about the public themselves, but certainly caring about the money that the public gives (and trying to hide it/Roger being ashamed of it). And beyond their first album, I'm not sure that I'd call any of their others particularly ground-breaking. |

On the subject of Pink Floyd, I've listened to just about all of their albums. I would say, yes, they certainly changed their sound at a certain point, but that was when there was suddenly a different person leading the band. If you know floyd backstory, you know what I'm talking about. In any case, regardless of the change, the music remains extremely non-conformist in structure and subject. And to those who insist they are conformist, show me a band that has anywhere near the same sound and feel. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

"K" sound + "yule".
Anyway, the surname "Kantola" has been floating around the 'net. I'm just glad it has an anchor now. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |
