Hello everyone. My name is Jared Cole and some of you might know me from an old web site at www.jaredgames.tk.

Around three years ago (this is a very old topic), the Jared Games web sites posted and claimed to "sell" stolen games from the OHR community. I'm here to tell you that I did not create those web sites.

At first, I wanted to create a small page where I could post my OHR games for visitors to download for free. I asked an ex-friend of mine, Mark Staton, to do the page for me, since I didn't want to have to create another and he had experience in creating "good" web pages. He also worked with OHRRPGCE as well..

I gave him access to my Angelfire account where I was currently hosting my personal web page at www.jareds.tk. He created a small start page which I then directed "www.jaredgames.tk" to. Mark obviously had some sort of grudge against me, because he then decided he was going to try to get me into trouble. He changed my Angelfire password so that I could not access it. Mark also changed the page by posting other OHR games that were not mine, and claiming that I made them. Of course, in order to complete his little "prank", he apparently distributed the URL throughout the OHR community. I first received an e-mail from Harlock, creator of Heretic, who told me to delete the page. I responded to him by telling him I would take care of the situation. I e-mailed Angelfire asking them to remove the site, and after several e-mails they finally did.

I thought I was safe, but then I began recieving more e-mails from people complaining to me that I had, once again, stolen their work. I checked www.jaredgames.tk (which I had already deleted) and Mark had created another page, this time using Brinkster, claiming that I was the creator of other peoples games. I e-mailed Brinkster first thing complaining to them that the Jared Games web site was using my name and infringing copyrights. They told me they would look into it. A few weeks later I got an e-mail from Brinkster saying the page had been removed due to "other" complaints of copyright infringment.

So far, there have not been any other attempts by Mark to create any other Jared Games web sites..

Rather you believe me or not, this is the truth. I have never stolen anybodys work and never intend to. What Mark did was extremely frustrating and I hope he never does it again.

I came across this forum by recently searching for "Jared Games" in Google to see if any of the fake pages were still up, and came across this thread:

I just wanted to let everyone know the story and know that it is the truth.

I'm sorry if this caused anyone any frustration and I will be making pages ON MY OWN from now on... Just so you know, niether Mark nor myself ever made any profits off those stolen games and to be simple, it was merely a prank pulled on me by a "supposed" friend obviously to get me into some sort of trouble.

So, why did you tell Harlock you "Would take care of it" instead of telling him all this then? More importantly, how would anyone get your real e-mail address? Wouldn't your friend have a fake e-mail address he could attribute to you, to get you until real trouble? Not to call you a liar, or poo-poo on your whole apology thing, but your friend sucks at being a dick.
