I've saved a bmp file in the same palette as OHR, according to the Wiki page on "How do I make sure my imported files don't look horribly ugly" (or whatnot), but when I import it, the colours aren't the same...

http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/4712/indoormaptiles1ij.png

This is the current tileset I'm trying to import (imageshack converted it to png automatically... but it should be import-able if you re-save it as a bitmap).

When I try to import it, the browns of the floorboards turn extra-dark, and I can't really make out the difference between them and black...

Why is it doing this? Shouldn't it work perfectly, since I saved the colours using the proper palette?

I'm confused Sad...

I know there's only so much I can do with the current palette (the significant lack of desaturated colours, and oranges, makes me quite sad... I don't like ultra-high saturation, and I enjoy making red-and-yellow-ish carpets, as seen here Raspberry!) but as it is, I can't draw anything in external programs - and I don't want to use the (somewhat clunky) in-Custom editor for -everything-...

Okay, I've solved the problem - it's just an issue with fullscreen DOS.

When in fullscreen DOS, for some reason some colours are made SUPER dark, way darker than they're supposed to... I didn't realize that was the problem, because the brighter colours were approximately as bright as they ought to be - it's just a certain brightness it doesn't like, or something.

When I put it into window mode with Alt+Enter, it fixes itself.

Thank goodness! I guess, though, that I'll have to use windowed mode for now. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose.

Could you please test some of the other graphics backends? Download http://hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/archive/ohrrpgce-binary-win-nightly.zip and try full-screen with some of the different versions, and let me know which ones do and do not produce the wrong colors.

fb : doesn't work (colours are dark)
fb2 : doesn't work (colours are dark)
alleg : doesn't work (colours are dark)

Sorry.

If you meant something else, you'll have to explain further, but none of those exes show the colours properly in fullscreen mode.

If my system's details are needed, I'm running Win XP Professional.

Did you mean DOS, or OHR?

It's probably OHR, as someone in the IRC was saying it was a Known Issue (although not on the buglist?), but for all I know it could just be a DOS problem. I don't really have a way to check... D:
