|

First off, for any OHR user who does not know, hasta-la-qb is the 'codename' for an upcoming version of the OHR that will be the final official release of the OHR that runs natively on DOS. I can't say that I understand entirely what that means, but the later versions of the OHR will run on Windows, apparently.
I am making this thread after reading that the hasta-la-qb version seems to be close to ready for release, to see if any OHR users have suggestions concerning simple things that they think ought to go into a final DOS version of the OHR. On the other hand, I don't want to seem like we are demanding these things of the programmers. Any hasta-la-qb release will be awesome I am sure, but if any of these suggestions are relatively easy to pull off, well, hey maybe DOS OHR could be even awesomer!
For myself, I know I've asked for it a while, but I haven't yet heard any problems concerning a cut and paste job for bug #134 (concerning percentage attacks).
Bug #186 (concerning NPC activation) is not marked as fixed, but I get the feeling that it was. If not however, I feel it ought to be if possible. In the same vein, I think bug #207 ought to be obliterated (and Mr. Caron made it sound like it ought to be simple).
Finally, is there any way to take existing BAMs and convert them to MIDI files? One of the main problems that I felt was introduced in the latest versions was that music no longer loops correctly. I asked about this a while ago, and I got the impression that this was 'just the way that it worked', and that BAM was soon to be extinct anyway. If that is the case, then I think that we really ought to have a program to turn our BAMs into MIDIs, so that we can fix them there (since we've apparently given up on notate.exe). Or perhaps to turn .not files into MIDIs, although I'd really rather have it the other way if possible, since we have a utility to extract BAMs out of games, but not one to get back to the .not files. |

Neither of those bugs affect Hasta-la-qb. Those are ubersetzung-only bugs, so no worries about them appearing in the upcoming release

I have a command-line program that I will make sure to include. You will be able to run:
Code: | b2m.exe old.bam new.mid |
It uses *exactly* the same conversion that is already built into GAME, so it won't make anything sound better, but at least you can then load your BAM into a MIDI editor and modify it.
Stephanie's PC Piano also has bam-to-midi export capabilities, if you prefer not to wait for b2m.exe |

Just wanted to say thank you very much for the BAM->MIDI command. This will certainly be a helpful addition for anyone like me who was composing with notate back in the BAM days. Hopefully we'll see hasta soon. |

Animated backround still don work. And everynow and again I get a stuck note, much less than previous versions though.
I think Giving the enemy an attack graphic would make OHR battles that much more fun to play.
Thats all I can really think of at the moment. _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

If they don't work, you're not using them right. I tested this feature over and over again, and I guarantee that it works if you use it right.

Hasta is not a feature release, it is purely a bugfixing release. And, even if we were adding new features, new sprites would not be added for the specific reason of us still supporting dos. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.
