The lighting doesn't really make any sense, and her chin/head should be a little bit narrower if it's a girl. As it is, she looks sort of like a YOU FOUND THE SECRET WORD!. Should her hair be bigger than her head? I mean, look how close her eyes, are to her chin, nose, and mouth, then look at that MOUNTAIN of hair on top. And damn, those eyes are huge.

Her neck is insanely wide for as short as it is, especially in relation to her jaw and head.

Okay, Slime here spends a good deal of time drawing in class, and, you guessed it, it's usually faces. I don't go for too realistic, I just try to make it look, well, cool.

Here's your main problem. You need to just practice, practice, practice. Those faces are terribly generic. It seems just like any other anime face out there. I know it's hard, but try to create your own style. Also, this is constructive critisicm, so don't be offended by this.

I'll show you guys some of my work sometime. It's not ZOMG AMAZING, but, having spent the last, um, what was it, I think 8 school years doodling whenever I could, I can come up with decent faces.

(The body tends to be more troublesome for me, though.)

EDIT: I'm trying to draw something real quick in mspaint, so you can get an idea of Slime's style, but using a trackball on a laptop sucks, allthough using it for long periods improves your abilities with a mouse, seeing that the trackball is much more of a challenge. Anyways, my point is, this could take more than a few minutes. I'd muc rather draw one and scan it, but it's too late for that. Maybe later.

Note how, even thought it's very basic, doesn't look too generic. My style used to be greatly influenced by toryiama, since, if you can't tell, I'm a huge DQ fan, I started straying away from that. My latest influences are the art in MegaMan and Fire Emblem. You can see some elements from those art styles, but it doesn't seem as if I went ahead and copied the art.

Might I recommend you try drawing in paper and pencil first? It's much easier than in the computer, and is a great way to practice.

yea, I kinda don't like the hair and neck myself. but its still pretty good for what it is.

edit: single USB port is currently occupied right now by a wireless adapter, so I cannot hook up my mouse to it, so whenever I get the 4 port usb adapter, I am gonna try to redo her hair and neck. The eyes are fine in my opinion.
