I've been experimenting with this feature (using HP as a cost for attacks) and have noticed that there's a crazy amount of deviance in the amount of HP lost. I have one attack that is supposed to cost 500 HP and it will sometimes knock off as much as 1200! What exactly is the range set as? |

Well, there is a known bug where the HP will be docked for each hit, instead of for the overall attack. Perhaps this is the problem? _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.

The damage taken from HP cost attacks is random, not fixed. I was noting that the deviation from the original value tends to get extreme. I think I've had this problem before, but I always noticed HP cost attacks dealing less damage to the caster than what they are supposed to.
This isn't a very commonly used feature, so I can see how something like this could have stuck for such a long time, but it's a little annoying. |

If I remember right, attacks that cost money have the same problem--one of my old games had an item that took away 1000 money to do 1000 damage to one enemy, but the money it took usually ended up being closer to 1400-something instead of 1000 exactly. |

Have you tried the 'do not randomize' attack bitset? |

Do not randomize applies to the attack, not its cost. |

Unless something's wrong with the HP/Money costs and they use the "attacking" formula rather than the "MP cost" one to figure out how much to remove... hmm.
Though, I'm pretty sure I remember having Do Not Randomize on for my 1000-damage/1000-money item, so that's probably not it. (either that or my memory is even worse than I thought...) |

I believe I will look at this bug right now.
Edit: Ok, if you could grab a nightly (tommorow), and test a fix I made, great. _________________ I stand corrected. No rivers ran blood today. At least, none that were caused by us.
