I am trying to make my Hero sprites look as decent as possible without making them look too unpleasing.

This is the human hero, so he looks natural. I am pretty pleased with him finally.

I am having much more trouble on this. I am afraid I did too many things that might have screwed him up. Plus I already found a change I wanted to make after I uploaded this picture. Yes, he's supposed to be oddly colored to go with the kind of theme I plan on. Oh, and he's supposed to be stabbing with a rapier.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can improve the posture and definition of these sprites?

These are perfect! I don't see anything wrong with them. Good stuff!

As for your elf thing, the step frame might look a little odd when he's walking, but besides that, it also looks great.

[edit] The hero's right hand should probably be lower than his left hand. As you're swinging a weapon downwards, you don't want to stop immediately, since it hurts your arms. It's natural to rather swing the sword all the way down.

I really like these besides the coloring on the second. You might consider at least giving him a natural skintone, or if the skintone isn't supposed to be natural, go all out and make it something completely weird. As it stands, I opened that one first and thought you didn't know how to change palettes.

Out of curiosity, what weapon does the caped hero use? The animation seems to indicate he's swinging a broadsword or axe (and from the looks, probably a light battleaxe, since he's swinging it side-to-side and not top-down).

It's Brian from Quest64! LOL. No, I'm just kidding. But the sprite really looks nice.

Will do.

Yeah. I shouldn't have switched to that walking style. Getting the caped hero to step like that was a huge pain to look right, and looking right was made with the help with his cape, so I just changed how the step animation is completely.

His initial weapon is a saber-like curved sword. That doesn't mean I don't have to give him axes at one point.

I just changed the palette of the otherworldly fencer (yeah, he's supposed to be a fencer).

These are exquisite. I honestly wish I could do as good as these.

*blushes* That's pretty flattering! I'm going to make up for it by making horrible maptiles.

I updated the fencer's (I named him Marcellus, so let's just call him that)... Marcellus' sprite palette.

I also changed the nameless hero's (you get to name him) attack frame.

Awesome. I'm increasingly fond of the smaller hero graphics (see Darkmoor Dungeon for my latest hero sprites) and these are wonderfully done. Looking forward to the product (but by no means does that mean you should rush it).

Why would we want to remember? *runs*

Seriously, I think my hero is more based on Hiro than the Quest 64 character.

That would explain why he's actually putting effort behind his attack.

Seriously... I don't know what Brian thinks he's doing, but attacking ain't it. I'd never played an RPG before that where the hero looked more like he had a MISS percentile than a HIT percentile. You can't get Brian to hit anything right in front of him even when his life depends on it. Especially when his life depends on it. In fact, I'd say that if you wanted to bet, you could safely do it on Brian MISSING his target.
