Whats a good program for pixel art?(or what do you use)
I've been using paint and recolouring my stuff in OHR but thats getting tedious. I have photoshop on my not so OHR computer (the one where I have to kick ass to get any time on) and was thinking about using it.
I've also considered getting one of the programs recommended by the OHR wiki if photoshop is no good but aren't sure how they stack up.
Not really on topic but I have a DA page if anyones interested

You've got very nice artwork. I personally have a tablet which can help for certain graphics, but I usually stick to using the OHR for my graphics, since keyboard gives me a lot of control (for backdrops and such, I get a palette from my game and use that to create it in photoshop). What sort of graphics do you have in mind in particular? _________________ http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=750 Bloodlust Demo 1.00

Hey, that artwork is prett good. I wish I could draw.
I just use OHR to make my graphics. It's a lot less work than importing graphics and recoloring them. If there's a better way to do it, though, I'd like to know. |

Thanks for the compliments guys I'm happy you like my DA drawings. They're going to get better now I got some charcoal.
Yeah and the pixel stuff, I read some tutorials so I'm on track with photoshop now. |

Oh okay, if you're running Photoshop, you're in good shape.
I just thought that if you were stuck with nothing but MSPaint that other good programs to check into would be NeoPaint and Pixia, both which are freeware. NeoPaint is better if you're system can't handle 32-bit graphics programs while Pixia is probably the best graphics program that's free. _________________

Forget those other hoes. The GIMP is the program to use...but it seems you already bought your photoshop so I guess your cool.
And welcome to CP. _________________ Indy OHR! and National OHR Month Contest going on now!

Thanks for the advice dudes. I did check the wiki before I posted this its just there was so much stuff there it was hard to choose. Photoshop is sweet now. Pity I only started after I got a job. 0 _ 0 |

I've updated the Wiki with a simple ranking that should be helpful in future for people to decide what prog to use. Half done.. the other half is to add better details to the individual paintprogram pages. |

I dunno, maybe it was the computer I was running at the time, but I could never get the GIMP to work.
Then again, I haven't tried since getting my Windows XP computer, in which case, I soon got Photoshop, so I didn't need to. _________________

Gimp is a pain in the ass, since the user interface is so unintuitive. However, once you get used to it, it's just about as good as Photoshop as long as you aren't creating things that will eventually be used in print publications. It's free though, so it's what I use. |
