I have been thinking about re-licensing Wandering Hamster under the GPL. I think it is unfair for me to ask Fenrir Lunaris to GPL his awesome work on Vikings of Midgard without freeing my own work in the same way.

The thing that stops me from doing this right now is that I have some music which needs to be replaced. I have made a chart of what needs to be replaced.

Music is a weak point of mine, so if anybody wants to volunteer any Public domain/GPL licenceable, I would be thrilled :)

Actually it'd be up to Bena and Moogle1 to decide whether they want to PD their own stuff.

In the meantime I've been trying to reconstruct certain midis from the already availible OHR midi selection (Gnomus, Bydlo Cart, Arabian Dance) by using sheetmusic from the Ravel reorchestrations of the "Exhibition" pieces and Anvil studio. Eventually I'm hoping to totally replace ALL the default free music, but that's wishful thinking. It's slow going. REAL slow going. If I ever manage to finish these up well enough, I'll gladly PD them all.

I was always working under the assumption that my work would be pubdom, so this is fine with me.

James, were you hoping for recomposition of the existing pieces or entirely new music? I would love to contribute some original compositions for Wandering Hamster.

Very ambitious! I applaud you!

My main goal is just to have good music. I would prefer to start by replacing the un-GPL-able copyright music (Aaron Walz and Jeremy Jacobs) with original compositions. It really pains me to lose those tracks, because they are some of my favorite midi's ever, but I have already talked to Aaron, and he says "No", and Jeremy Jacobs seems to have dropped off the face of the internet. I seriously dug up like half a dosen of his old e-mail addressses, and every one of them is dead :(

As for the crappy songs that I composed, I am in no hurry to deal with any of them except Broaste's Madness. (I feel it important to have good villian music for him) I spoke with Artimus Bena once before about the possibility of creating a new Broaste theme, but I think he got too busy with other stuff ;)

Yeah, sorry James. Got myself into a huge project, and 2 games since then. I'm still up for it, but I will need a little bit more time. Finalizing my last 30-minuter and all the vikings tracks at the moment.

All of my music on the gamelist (and songlist) is up for Public Domain.

That is, of course, unless you think it sucks; then I'd understand. Raspberry!

(Blows dust off old files)

I've got a couple of new ones that aren't on The List yet. I'll put em up probably tomorrow.
