It's a contest I thought of, not sure if someone already did it before, but hey, what the heck:
the "Never Before Seen scripts and Battle systems" Contest.

Rules are:
-----------
The game must have never before seen features and special scriptsand/or a special fighting system (such as tactics like in FF tactics.)

The game must have a good story. (No pointless games with no story!)

Ripped graphics are not allowed.

Working in groups is also not allowed.

The game can be a demo, as long as it has all of the above.

The deadline is February 1st 2007, should be enough time... Happy

Prizes:
-------
Most creative scripting and/or fighting engine:
Idea
Most amusing (fun) game:
Razz
Runner up / best graphics:
Cool
Better luck next time encouragment award:
Arrow

Me and friends (which never used the OHRRPGCE before) will judge.

Yeah, sure, Ok.

A storyless game, but falls under your special plotscript categories. It doesn't use OHR's battle engine, it doesn't use ripped graphics (box tool with white color), it uses an unconventional style of combat by beating the opponent in a game of Pong instead.

Pong is a story within itself, by being not the very first game to be made, but the very first game to become mainstream and win the hearts of casual people.

Right, I guess I could consider this, but I was expecting a new fighting engine prototype or whatever, anything creative...

Also, I edited the first post, forgot to post prizes

ok, it's nice that lots of you made games with special scripts and fighting engines, but It would be cool if you made new games...
Big grin

As much as I would like to recruit a Famicom Wars/Fire Emblem fan to help me create a plotscripted tactical game that is actually well featured, I'm not going to give up learning how to make my current game well and I sure can't do that idea in 2 months.

um, ok then, I'll give you guys more time, I guess it's fair because making a good story for a game AND special scripts is hard.
Happy
I modified the date, read above

I might enter this here contest... Maybe even use They Hunger, it might have an interesting battle plotscript that nobody's ever seen before. But I don't know. I'll try.

*runs off and steals script from that one game Shadowiii made, you know, Seventh Day or something like that, and uses it to fuel his own game, They Hunger, bah, bah*

[Edit: Wait, no ripped graphics? That's cool, but what if your game uses one single screen of a sedan driving off from an old SNES game (not a crappy rip at all) which I use at the beginning of the game to set the tone? I'm not a good artist, I can't draw teh cars. Bah!]

Don't even bother entering, n00blets! I've got an idea that's going to bend your games over, and kick 'em down a well. Nobody's ever seen shit like this. Nobody's ever even DREAMED of shit like this.

Before I reveal my full plot though, let me ask: Does it have to be something never done in OHR, or never done EVER?

Awsome, it's good that people want to participate, and also, Val, using backdrops is fine, only walkabouts, maptiles, enemies and heroes aren't allowed to be ripped.
Happy

It doesn't have to be something EVER done, just in OHR, it can even already been thought of, but never actually been done and uploaded on the net.
Oookay...

^ Awesome. Besides, it's only a temporary BG until I either A) acquire the skills to make my own or B) get someone else to do it for me.

A nice long interval over the holidays: Add stories to my planned tech demos (I don't tend to add one unless forced to :) and I might qualify if I don't end up getting some graphical help from anybody, breaking the no teams rule.
