Naturally, my usual big projects have a fair amount of transitions. I'd like to see your techniques at work. This is sort of a practice assignment for you, if you're willing to put some time in.
String together two very different compositions you wrote yourself. You can do this as many times with any combination of original songs as you like, demonstrating your own style in transitioning from one song to the other, in whatever way you deem appropriate. Be creative. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

Ummm... transitions eh? What kind? Short middle patterns or more like long transfer from one song's core point to the other? This may require a lot of tonal modifications... |

I will be unable to participate. I use an underground bad tool for midi making. Wouldn't allow me to link 2 songs one after the other sadly... Otherwise I would've |

if you compose 2 songs together, then, by definition, you are composing one song and I won't use another program just yet... none have a decent tracker display (I'm more familiar with trackers than actual scales because I've started with mods back in the days...) :S |

Couldn't you just rewrite the songs into a new file? And what program are you using? I'm sure there's a way to do it. _________________ Calehay |

Wait...So if I'm understanding this correctly, this is just a medley-making-contest? |

To do this, all you need is probably no more than 3 chords. Modulation isn't that difficult really. _________________ Moogle no longer owes prizes. |

Problem is that my program has a maximum set of patterns I can use and I usually fill them up (that's like 10 or 11, I'm not sure, so it is very limited). I praise for a better midi program, but most use an interface that I do not feel comfy enuf with. And the tool I use is Windows Midi Tracker, a very old FREEWARE version... Don't ask, its crap, but should you hear any of the songs, I'm sure you'd be surprised what I can come up to with this shit So ya, I'm willing to get on this one, but please point me with a better tool and this will also be an opportunity for me to learn a new program (woah, multi-tasking!) |

The easiest thing to get started on (for notation based UI) is anvil studio, especially if you can play piano or guitar, because it features a graphical image of these instruments, and you can produce notes by clicking on a fret or key.
I've only used iAnvil Studio for melody and chord construction though; my main progam is Noteworthy. It's less of a pain in the butt, in my opinion, and it's a little more user friendly.

forgot to point out I favor trackers. A good midi tracker is what I'd need. But to my knowledge, one such thing does not trully exist (sadly). |

Allright Artimus. Not sureif it qualifies, but here is mine
http://www.castleparadox.com/songlist-display.php?song=218
Seeing as how I couldn't mix two of my pre-existing songs together with my program, I started from scratch making a transition from orchestral to dance music (and back by the loop).
Hopefully its any good? |
