What kinds of scenery would blow your mind in an island castle? Objects, rooms, areas, pictures, statues, name it.
As far as areas and rooms go, with Fen and Tmc's help, I came up with the list below:
ROOMS and AREAS
-Areas
Library
Stables
Farmstead
Market
Seerin Temple
Barracks
-Rooms
Treasury
Kitchen (several)
Citizens' quarters
Tool sheds
Armory
Woodworker's Den
Commissary
But I really want to wow the player. What new, unexpected places would interest the eye, and how can I make the most of the above locations? _________________ SACRE BLEU!

It depends on the castle.
Was it used as a torture chamber during the old times? Or was it a castle of a rich but kind-hearted king? |

It's a very rich castle, but the emperor's not very kind-hearted ; ) It's a very old place too, but well kept. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

A rich castle.. not so kind-hearted king... old..
I don't know, but I'm thinking about the castle in Resident Evil 4. From what I can remember, there is a clock tower, a moat, a large chamber with this big cocoon in it... and a lot more.
You also might want to add a vast library in your castle. I imagine it filled with lots of cauldrons (alchemist's cauldrons) and lots of weird and unexplainable gadgets. |

"Library" is on the list already. What you're describing is closer to a laboratory.
Of course it will need catacombs and a throne room. If it has a torture chamber, it also needs a prison. Finally, what king would leave his castle without a winery? _________________

If the castle is rich maybe all of the rooms should be larger than they need to be. A gallery might be interesting, or just some general room to show off old art like paintings, tapestries, statues, etc. _________________ My first completed OHR game, Tales of the New World:

was he rich? If so, a treasure room full of gold would customary, as would a throne room. How about a crypt full of undead. |
