This'll be posted on the contest thread as soon as I'm approved by whoever the hell runs that place... but you can just read it yourself, for now, Alec.
"So... why do you people deserve to be judges? Only one of you is even a member of the OHR Community. Who hasn't made a game (although did post a pretty good title screen). What I'm saying is, why do people who've never made OHR games... perhaps never even played one or used the engine... deserve to judge the work of others? It's not that OHRers don't want others to see their games on other websites... I'm sure a number of us would like publicity (although you aren't nearly as likely to get a lot of the people who would've entered if it was at CP)... but it's like me judging a modern art contest. I sure as hell don't understand modern art, and I have NO idea what the standards of it are, so how am I suppose to judge accurately? The voting on ANY contest is generally by people who are either well experienced with the engine, or by the public. And the public there seems to be a bit more concerned with fancier things. Some of them probably won't even like the engine just because it's in DOS, and a good percentage will let something as superficial as graphics sway their opinion. The OHR community cares a bit more about quality then appearance... and I'm positive some of us aren't going to want our games judged by people who we don't know, who may have never played an OHR game before, who won't understand the complexity that goes into certain unique gameplay issues that we've been able to come up with...
For these reasons, I won't be joining this contest, and I'm sure plenty of other won't as well. Of course, you're bound to get some takers, but this contest still needs a LOT of work."
EDIT: Quick enough, I'm posting now. Let me in just a minute or so after I typed up this here...
DOUBLE-EDIT: Or not. Seriously bugged up there... _________________ Preserve OHR history! Do it for the children! |

I'm not entering because:
A. It's being run by someone who I have no knowledge of.
B. You're holding it at Gaming World, a site that makes me retch in disgust.
C. There are too many contests as it is. _________________

And someone named Logan is a judge....
I'm registered at this Gaming world. I'll be keeping a close eye on whatever obscenity arises from this contest... |

Nice concept, wrong people. Pardon if I'm going to be brutal but seriously, I've read the gaming world post, and those people had no idea what OHR was. Why did you make the contest on a non-OHR board? Were you intent on bringing in newbies but presenting a contest intended for pro OHRers? You don't even have prizes. In fact all you could have said that winner could hold 'Best Newbie Game of the Year' award. Goodness you made GRAMMAR a category when you can't even spell 'unknown' or 'grammar'. Think over what you're doing. _________________ If you hit a plane with the soccer, could you afford to fix it? - Shaolin Soccer

thounds like thomeone hath thomething againthed caniadianth.
@ Veldy: Those musta been typos in the misspelings, dude.
Just like when I misspelled hamster and put hampster, I still do that sometimes, I have a natural tick that when I put an M, I put a P for some reason, EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE!
It is NOT an OHR board, you're right, it's an ALL GAME ENGINE site, they'll take any game subbmitions on the main site.
Anyways, OHR has been mentioned a few times, so I decided to put up a little more support. _________________ Yeah, whatever, haven't finished one game.

I'll puke if I see an OHR section on Gaming World. The site reeks in unoriginality and utter crappiness. It is the complete antithesis of what an amateur game development/RPG maker site should be. _________________

Ditto. Also, the link is broken. You should fix that if you expect anyone to enter. |

Not sure how to break it to you, but... you travelled through time 10 years into the future and CP is now kinda dead. _________________ Snippy:
