It's very complicated. This is one of those "If you have to ask, you won't understand the answer" sorts of questions.
However, you're in luck (as is anyone else hoping to make a sidescroller): the next issue of Hamsterspeak will contain the first of a series of articles on making a sidescroller.

It's must be pretty hard. I wanted to make one cause I played you're super mario bros. game.

Are we still talking about sidescrollers? Because if so, see previous answer.

Reeeally! I guess it's not a series of PSOMs then. Is it about writing from the ground up, or using baby bob or some other script?
