Try to make the hair a little bit more dynamic. It really shows right now that you just drew half of a face, and then flipped it around. Too much symmetry is a bad thing. Something needs to be done to the line separating the part of her hair that falls into her face, and the part that goes behind her head, because right now it looks like she has a moustache growing on her forehead, and something behind her head. I'm not a good enough artist to know how to fix that, but something about it just seems wrong.

I'm not an expert by any means, so you should probably take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I hope you don't mind:

The biggest problem is that the basic shape of the head is skewed. This does happen a lot in Anime, but I think you've taken it to a bit of an extreme. On the real human head, the eyes are about halfway through the head. This doesn't include hair. Hair, particularly big hair like this, grows out from the head, so the hair is really going to sit on the head. The read oval I made isn't really the right shape or anything, but hopefully it will help you.

I didn't really touch anything else, but is this supposed to be pixel art? If so, I would suggest not using a .jpg image.

If you can get a Wowio account, I would suggest this book. It's not Anime, but there's a lot of basic principals that helped me understand a lot about the anatomy of the head.

Yep, I don't like the hair on it either. As for the face I got it how I wanted it, I actually drew it almost the same way as you calehay. If you look at my original gimp file, there is a layer with the guidelines.

No.

Even if you used guidelines, you still managed to screw up the size of the head. If you shaved the head of your version, she would look like an alien or a deformed human with no brain whatsoever.

Calehay is correct about how you should go about the head size. I was critiqued about this very same thing in the past.

Alright, I redid the entire face. This time I also included the guidelines. And yes, I didn't draw hair for her on purpose. I want to be sure that I did everything right, facewise.

Now tell me if I did anything wrong.
