I am using XP. Yeah. Still. It rocks!
I digress...
.ogg format seems to work when I play it as a map ambiance.
It only doesn't seem to work when called by a text box...
But yeah, what you've said does make sense.
I am also using the official release of Werewaffle, not one of the nightlies.
I might try that nightly. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

Okay, with respect to the nightly: I opened it and resaved the test-case in custom before performing this test.
.ogg plays as map music, and it switches from .ogg to .ogg with no problems. Going to import a midi to see if it switches from .ogg to .mid with no problems.
EDIT: Okay, it goes back and forth smoothly. However, I do not have any title music set for the test case, so when I quit using the menu, the map music (.ogg) continued to play at the title screen. Anyway, I'm going to test using .ogg in battle to see if it works correctly.
EDIT2: It plays, but when I tried to run from the test battle, the game froze but kept playing the music. I think that the run command processed but the game couldn't remember what comes next. When was the last time that the escape code was updated? I'll try a winnable battle next to see if it works properly. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

What about MIDI music? Does it work from text boxes? |

MIDI worked for me when I tested it from a text box. I still need to test breaking from battle to map. It plays in one direction, but it hung in the other for some reason. I'm blaming vista until I can get it to happen again with the nightly. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

Like Raekul said, MIDI works great. Text boxes can call MIDIs.
It's only .oggs, I think.
Also, I highly recommencd using .oggs. They are great sound quality-wise.
Still, the first second of music being cut off is rather annoying. It even keeps cutting it off after repeating. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

.ogg music causes after-battle hangs. Also, the .midi for the text box was really, really soft. I'm gonna check the battle with a midi as the bgm, then again as the Victory music. If I'm right, we'll have to re-work the escape code as well as not use .ogg for victory.
EDIT: Okay. Using a midi for the battle BGM does not cause it to hang after battle, but using an ogg does. _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

I've learned from experience that soft music is usually just client side. Check your volume settings for MIDI? _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

How do I do that on Vista? _________________ A broken clock is still right twice a day. |

Ummm... honestly, buddy, I wish I knew. I would think the Microsoft team wouldn't make it too hard to find.
Check your Control Panel? My best guess, since I don't use Vista.
But yeah, sometimes my MIDI volume gets turned down out of nowhere.
I go to vol. control and adjust it from time to time. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I have a fix for this bug that I think will work for both of you. I manually forced an early nightly build so you can test: ohrrpgce-wip-default.zip
Let me know how it works for you. |
