|
|
The contest's been going almost 2 days now, and nobody even knew about it! Just the kind of thing we've grown to love from the Halloween contest, isn't it?
The rules are the same as always. No special file, no "special" themes, nobody cares if you've been working on it since last year, and don't expect much in the way of prizes. It's all about the glory.
You want the glory, don't you? Here's how to get it. If you release a game between now, and November 2nd, post a link to it in this thread. At exactly 12:01 AM, November 2nd, the entry period is over, and the judging starts.
All entries will be judged on a scale of 0 to 10, in three categories: Fun, Originality, and Scariness. There's a separate title for each category, as well as for OVERALL CHAMPION!
Pretty self explanatory, right? Just remember, that while there will be prizes for the winners, we fly pretty fast and loose with the concept of "prize". Don't expect anything with monetary value, try to remember the eternal glory of being victorious.
If there's any questions, feel free to post them here. Good luck, have fun, and remember not to ruin your Halloween to try and get in on time. That's why the contest goes to November SECOND. |

Sure, why not? The voters might penalize you for it, but that's up to them. |

I might start my game this year, but I doubt if I'll even get a demo out by Halloween. What with Project BloodSummons moving full swing and my awesome Tuman Gardener game coming along (first demo should be out in time for HS #19 or 20 at least), I'll see what I can do. But I had an idea so great that my brain actually soiled its self in excitement. I will definitely have a finished project for next Halloween. It's going to be kick-awesome! _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

There's a week left! And things are looking dark. But don't listen to your friends, kiddies! A week is plenty of time to slap-dash something together. |

Maybe at least a demo of the graphics. That would get us all in the Halloween spirit. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I will definitely submit something.
Maybe it will even a game.
[edit] Yup, it'll be a game.
Game is complete. |

I'll have two entries this year. But one won't be released until the 31st, the other won't be online til Hamster Speak 20 is up. _________________ ---------------Projects----

Okay, wow. Seeing as how TwinHamster was the only one to post a link to his game in this thread, I guess that makes him the official winner. I'll post his review later. If anyone wants to go ahead and quantify just how much they like it, feel free. |

Err... I think Scare Spree was also intended as an entry. _________________

Okay, anyone else? I guess I didn't make it exactly clear that you should post links to it in this thread, but I'm doing so now. Post a link late if you want, and I'll let the voters sort it out. I guess I'll give this a day or two to bring in all the stragglers, and then kick off voting say, Tuesday. |

As short as it was, did anyone even remotely enjoy it?
If so, that's good enough for me. |

I liked it enough to write a review, though I will admit I didn't quantify it in the traditional contest scheme.
I WILL DO SO NOW!!!
Fun: 8
Creativity: 6
Scariness: 3 ('cause when those skeletons TURNED THE FRICKIN' CORNER, I almost wet my pants. I was like "HURR, THEY CAN'T GET ME NOW!" and then they did ) |

That is pretty darn cool.
Although I suck at it, so I hate to have to re-watch the intro each time I die :) |

Thanks for both reviews, Giz.
In the last fight, I guess I spent more time making sure that you could shoot the enemy's attacks than making sure that they actually hurt you.
I'll probably want to go fix that up eventually.

This was actually completely accidental.
It's a byproduct of a looping mistake that I decided to run with.

By the time I finished the game, I had played each level so much that I figured that it was altogether pretty easy.
I suppose I should've hired a playtester or two.

I guess I should've thought about letting you restart the level you died on with a score penalty or something. Whoops. |
