Just to let you know, the "Better Than the Worst" articles on O:OHR are obsolete. It's better to list the updated versions that I submitted to HamsterSpeak in January 2008. Or keep the old ones up, but highlight them as "2001 Edition". |
Thanks, I will make note of that and change it shortly.
FYI, if any of you are browsing the stuff and see an error such as this one, please let me know. It helps a ton.

Here's a whole lot more articles:

There are of course plenty of reviews there as well!
Maybe I'll dig about on the wiki and look for good articles for inclusion.
It would be a good idea to mention for your game downloads the source site and any version/upload date information from the original site, or perhaps the date you downloaded it if that's not available.

It does seem a bit daunting, but really it isn't that big of a deal to me. I've enjoyed working on it so far, and making changes to each page when needed hasn't been a huge deal (yet).
I suppose hand editting everything could work, but the problem is that keeping the site up to date will be near impossible. It would be nice if, for example, CP or SS's game indices were automatically crawled occasionally - James' gamelist mirror does this monthly - and new games, reviews, downloads, etc linked to. The next version of CP will also have waaay more information per game listing, so I don't see updates to that stuff appearing on any sort of "newest reviews"-type index.
It's too bad I know nothing about web development.
Oh, this brings me to another question: which games do you want on the site? Anything with at least a download or |
Thanks for the RPG online links. Brings back memories and I will definitely be looking into the information on that site.
I wish I knew more about web development as well, but this is all I have to work with at this time. I'm hoping that in the future I will know more things to make the job easier, but as of now, this is all I got.
Also, I'm not sure what you mean about the download links. Check here:
http://thehamsterwheel.net/vikings/downloads.html
That shows the version of the game on the site (if applicable), and two mirrors. Is this what you are talking about?
As far as what I want on the list; I want games that have some sort of concrete evidence as to their existence. For instance, a game announced in 2004 that doesn't even have a screenshot or something to this date would probably not be a candidate for the list. However, if you know of a game not on the list that at least has some sort of screenshot, then I'd be happy to add it to the list.
I appreciate the help folks. _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games

If you look game entries on CP it shows the date the download was uploaded, and on SS you can see the date the page was last updated. I think it's valuable information to mention, if available.

The page for 2001's 48-hour contest wrote: | Xutt by Unknown Author |
A bit more information about this one: the full title was actually "Xutt's Tournament," and it was made by me (I went by the name Supernum at the time, on the OHRRPGCE Help Me board.)
Not sure how the full name ended up being left out of the game... I guess in the rush to get it done in 48 hours, I forgot to put in a title screen or fill out the "long name" blank. So I guess "xutt.rpg" was the only thing anyone had to go by. |
