Hey it's been a while but of course I always disappear then reappear after a long time =_=;
SO! I am in my final semester and working on my beautiful~ Demo reel! I should be done in October where I'm going to try and get a job~ At anywhere that's not EA (Don't like the games and the facility was too huge for my liking) I'll prolly try for Action Pants (which was bought out by Ubisoft) it was nice there with nice people~ Good atmosphere *nods* BUT enough with my blathering! Here is my first model:
Yes she doesn't have hair on yet and there are faults, but I'm working on it and receiving a lot of help from my mentor~ (who is scary good and makes me feel bad '~' ) So right now I'm just sculpting her in z-brush to make normal/displacement maps ^_^v
And for the heck of it I'll put up a sketch~!
I'll show you guys when I start to texture her~! _________________

your mentor hasn't mentioned anything about your model's proportions being off, has he/she? i keep staring at it, and although it's a nice basic setup, i don't actually think it's proportionally correct. your model's head is too small for the rest of her body, and her abdomen as well as all her limbs are too long. not by a LOT, but it is enough to make it look slightly off. i do like your drawing though, it reminds me a lot of Rikku from ffx. _________________ insert myspace link here. |

Actually I said the same thing to my mentor, but when he said '7.5 heads for a girl' then measured she was about that, even a little more as she's wearing higher shoes. He has actually no beef with the proportions O_o but I'll be sending the picture of him later, to get more critique. So maybe THEN he'll mention it
And the sketch is a actually a boy ... _________________

I think the proportions are fine. I've seen people with interesting physical attributes, and I think models of people should be just as varying. _________________ SACRE BLEU!

Pretty cool! I look forward to seeing more.
So when this model is finished, will you have any way of attaching it to some sort of skeleton frame and animating it? |

Mmmm yes~ I will be rigging it and hopefully making in move and walk like a video game character, since on my demo reel I want to show I can make a completely functional model. The other 2 I will be modeling are creatures though I'll show you guys when I start on them _________________

Well, you can always see if you really like it. Have you tried 3D modeling before? It's actually really easy to get into, I myself was modeling a simple elephant on my first day when I went to *this* school ^_^. If you want to do it then do it~! I would really like to warn you first though, that you will spend 12-15 hours a day on the computer, and that you will have no life, I myself barely have anytime to cook now... =_= Surprisingly taxing career to go into and you have to take critique everyday ^_^;
If you are looking for a school to goto when you Graduate though, I would suggest the school that I am currently attending, Think tank Training Centre, the teachers are nice people who work in the industry for companies like; Rockstar (making of GTA and things like Bully), Propaganda games (Turok), EA (sports games...), Nerd Core (made shows like Storm hawks) and our new animation teacher who is coming in animated on all the star wars movies, and I think some of the harry potter movies O_o
But yeeeeeah, As a spot of happy news I hadn't modeled anything before coming to this school ^_^; _________________

Haha dont mean to insult myself, but i have been stuck at home watching my little brother all summer so i have been on the computer over 12-15 hours a day. lol. I actually discovered the OHRRPGCE when summer started, and just got hooked. lol. But anyway, im definitly going to check out that school. Are they picky about grades or anything? If so, i might have quite a bit of trouble. _________________ Resident Evil RPG Demo

Not really. They just want you to have Graduated, to get into the school you'll also need 10 pictures of your work. I did drawings because I didn't touch 3D yet O_o so if you can only graduate you'll be good to go! The fees for the school are mmmm 'nice' though it's around the $29,000 mark =_=; but it was cheaper and more specialized than other schools like The Art Institute of Vancouver >.>; _________________
