Also there are some things to do in FFVIII's European version at the end. You can find a giant cactor and there's a secret dungeon with a weapon-type boss at the end. |
Point well made, but remember that you can reach Jumbo Cactar, Odin, Tonberry King and Ultima Weapon on Disk 3 as-well (btw I'm a Brit, so I do have the European version :p)
EDIT: D'oh, sorry Moogle already made that point, my bad :S |

Well I only really found them after I got stuck in the final dungeon and went back to see what I missed. I don't think you're supposed to do all secrets on Disc 3 already. _________________ Snippy:

They kept them on Disc 4 as to not punish completionist players that wouldn't have any idea that all of the towns would end up inaccessible. _________________

#1: Remove the opening video with the feathers and the flower petals.
#2: Replace all the 3D graphics with 2-color sprites. Reduce the screen resolution to 320 x 200 pixels.
#3: Make Squall a bunny. I can't remember any of the other characters' names (I only played for two hours, barely managing to find the first dungeon and run away from a T-Rex), but make one a raccoon, another a skunk, another a fox, and so on.
#4: Actually give some indication of where the first dungeon is.
#5: ????
#6: Profit! _________________ "I didn't start the flame war;

Don't include a plot twist where the characters suddenly realize:
"Hey,-we're-all-childhood-friends-that-grew-up-together-but-forgot-because-of-magic!"
Also, don't suddenly throw in an ultimate-time-witch of all time 4/5 the way through the game.
Oh, and give the player a clue about how the story ends. You know, let them understand the consequences of their actions.
Man I hated that game. I liked the dancing cut scene, and that's about it.
Just think for a moment - is it really possible to defeat the most powerful sorcerer of all time and still take the definition seriously?
Bring me the FF6 opera!
That was awesome. _________________ Working on rain and cloud formation |

She's pretty much a human just like your own characters, but just extremely powerful. I think I'm gonna have to disagree and say that yes, I can take the definition seriously, especially in context with what your own characters can do. _________________

I bet someday FF6 will get the 3D-remake treatment just like FF3 and FF4 got. They darn well better know they have high expectations to live up to for that scene :) |

Or we could all travel back in time, to when the first PS1 FF test where being done, and force them to make FF6 3D back then instead of giving us FF7 straight away...we could achieve this easily, by compressing all of time into one single era, and then going to the square building, and locking all their abilities except attack and put all there other skills locked away by powerful boss monsters...what was I saying again? |

@Squallisdead
Wow, that guy just took a bad story line and made it make some sense.
However, I can't imagine he's right. You would think that someone somewhere would echo his conclusions.
Rather, I think it just goes to show how easy it is to take the FF8 story and turn it into something better, BECAUSE IT IS SO BAD!
Here's a fun game - take a plot of a game, book or movie that you don't like, and re-interpret it into something better.
My turn. Battlestar Galactica: after Star Buck's ship blows up, the rest of the series makes no sense because she's actually dead, and it's all a delusion of her dying mind! Perfect!
Alternatively, one might simply note that while the Cylons allegedly "had a plan", the script writers did not. _________________ Working on rain and cloud formation |
